* STANDARD SECTION DEFINITION: Sections that are expected to run based on historical enrolment numbers and student intention data and which are paid based on the terms of the collective agreement. If a standard section is cancelled due to low enrollment, the required notice or payment in lieu of notice of cancellation will be provided.

STANDY SECTION DEFINITION: Please note that this package includes both standard section(s) as well as standby section(s). Standard section(s) are those that are expected to run based on historical enrolment numbers and student intention data and which are paid based on the terms of the collective agreement. If a standard section is cancelled due to low enrollment, the required notice or payment in lieu of notice of cancellation will be provided. Standby section(s) are sections that are scheduled and will only be opened if student demand warrants it. Standby sections are those with less likelihood to run than Standard sections based on uncertainty around student demand for the course. The decisions to open Standby sections will be made no later than 1 week before the start of classes. Should a decision be made to not open a standby section, no payment in lieu of notice will be offered. Should a decision be made to open a standby section, the payment for work will be in accordance with the terms of the collective agreement. 

** RESTRICTED COURSES/SECTIONS DEFINITION :

b) The University, through its CLACs, may offer available teaching to:

i) Individuals deemed to have particular skills, knowledge, or experience needed to enhance a particular program; or

ii) Individuals from a group covered by the Ontario Human Rights Code where the position is designated by the University as requiring 

membership in such a group. The decision to designate positions falls within the University’s discretionary authority. 

In these instances, the provisions of Article 14.10 and 14.11 respectively (Appointment Procedure – Selection), shall not apply. Such appointments may not exceed fifteen percent (15%) of the volume of work available for discharge in a given semester within a Faculty.

c) Restricted work will not form part of a multi-course package (as outlined in Article 13.3(b)) with unrestricted work. All such decisions and the 

process leading to and incidental to such decisions are within management’s discretion and are not grievable.

Effective May 1, 2022, the University’s Vaccination Policy has been suspended. However, due to the fluid and dynamic nature of the COVID-19 virus, should public health indicators change, the University reserves the right to reinstate the Vaccination Policy, as deemed necessary. Should this policy be reintroduced, all successful candidates will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and provide such proof via the TMU Safe App.

Course delivery can be online, in-person or hybrid at the sole discretion of the hiring unit. Candidates hired for in-person courses will be required to carry out their teaching on campus. Candidates teaching remotely are required to have access to the appropriate technology, i.e. computer with camera and microphone and high-speed internet.

Types of positions are as follows:

PT: part-time up to 2 sections

RW: reduced workload 3 to 4 sections

FS: full sessional 5 sections
