Job Title: Quality Assurance Analyst
Position: Contract
Duration: 11 months (with high probability of extension)

Job Description:
Our client is a National firm in Investment Management and is considered a leading instutition in the Financial Services industry as one of Canada's largest organizations. They are looking to hire Quality Assurance Analysts who are detailed-oriented and are highly motivated who will support their testing efforts by reviewing business requirements, design documents, and technical specifications to create detailed test plans, scripts, and data. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience executing test cases, tracking defects, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure issues are identified, resolvedm and retested in a timely manner. This will help support their investment in providing cutting-edge financial solutions and services to a wide range of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirements Analysis & Test Planning:

    • Review business requirements, design documentation, and technical specifications to understand project objectives and ensure thorough test coverage.

    • Develop and document test execution plans based on the reviewed materials, ensuring all aspects of the project are tested against defined requirements.

    • Maintain requirements traceability to test cases, ensuring that all business needs are captured and tested across different project phases.

  • Test Case Development & Execution:

    • Write detailed test cases to validate that the solution meets the business requirements.

    • Participate in test script creation and execution for various testing phases, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

    • Create necessary test data to support the testing activities, ensuring a comprehensive and accurate test environment.

  • Defect Management & Resolution:

    • Log defects found during test execution, document clear steps for reproduction, and assign priority levels.

    • Collaborate with development teams and other workstreams to troubleshoot and analyze defects. Follow through on the resolution process and retest defects to verify they are properly fixed.

    • Ensure all defects are tracked in the defect management system, providing regular updates on their status.

  • Training & Documentation:

    • Create and document training materials as necessary, especially on new functionality or changes to existing systems, ensuring team members are well-prepared for testing tasks.

    • Assist in the development of internal process documentation to improve testing and defect management practices.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams (development, business analysts, product owners, etc.) to ensure that all project requirements and test objectives are clearly understood and met.

    • Provide regular status updates on test execution progress and defect resolution to key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication throughout the testing cycle.

  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Actively participate in post-test reviews and retrospectives to help improve testing processes, tools, and overall quality assurance practices.

    • Suggest process improvements for more efficient testing practices and better defect resolution.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Problem Solving & Analytical Skills:

    • Strong analytical skills to identify, report, and track defects, and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.

    • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for catching inconsistencies and defects within systems and processes.


Top Skills Required:

  • 3+ years experience in a QA Analyst Role with strong operational knowledge of CAPITAL MARKETS, INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT OR A BANKING ORGANIZATION.

  • 5+ years experience reviewing requirements and design documents.

  • 5+ years experience creating test plans, test cases and test data.

  • 5 + years experience executing test cases and reporting defects logged.


Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Financial Services, Capital Markets, and/or Investment Management terminology and workflows.

  • Proficiency in test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Quality Center, TestRail).

  • Familiarity with test automation tools is a plus (e.g., Selenium, QTP, LoadRunner).

  • Knowledge of SQL for data verification and querying.


Desirable Skills:

  • 3+ years providing QA Analyst supporting the following products (SimCorp Dimension, Blackrock Aladdin, eFront, Tibco, Azure Databricks)

  • 5+ years working as a QA Analyst in an Agile environment utilizing Agile methodologies.

  • 5+ years working as a QA Analyst using Tibco

  • 3+ years working as a QA Analyst working with Azure DevOps

  • 3+ years utilizing the full Microsoft Suite of Applications as a QA which would require hands on working experience with SQL.
