AV/Home Theater Technician

 

We’re looking for skilled and experienced Audio Visual Technicians to perform flat panel and home theater integration services for our customers across Canada.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Completes Home Theater product installs for customers. 
  • Optimizes audio/video equipment for optimal product performance using the components’ standard control interface
  • Performs wireless and/or wired networking as product/installation requires
  • Interacts with customers to explain installation procedures and functionality of system in customer friendly manner
  • Uses customer lifestyle knowledge to recommend additional products and services while in the customer’s home to enhance the customer’s experience
  • Picture and sound test all devices with customer present.
  • Moves and installs product into customer’s home
  • Completes paperwork and obtains necessary signatures
  • Demonstrates a very high level of customer service during all customer interactions and provides follow-up feedback to relevant sales and management personnel when appropriate
  • Completes routine functionality test and basic cleaning of equipment when applicable
  • Cleans up job site after installation to company standards
  • Install surround sound, audio and video equipment
  • Train the customer on system use and how to obtain system maintenance if needed.
  • Use wire troubleshooting tools such as tracer/toner and continuity testers
  • Read blueprints
  • Read product material for product knowledge advancement
  • Connect and troubleshoot single and multi zone speaker distribution systems.
  • Understanding of frequency response
  • Familiar with audio equipment accessories including speakers, amps, receivers, etc.
  • Properly mount (secure, level, centered) various equipment including plasma TV’s, projectors, volume controls, in-wall speakers, etc.
  • Ability to lift ~60 lbs.
  • Calibrate the audio levels of a home theater using sound level meters. 
  • Proficient with IR based touch screen remotes
  • Connect infrared remote control routing systems using IR receivers, IR repeaters, etc.
  • Understanding of HDTV and Digital surround formats
  • Connect and troubleshoot high end multi-zone audio/video distribution systems.
  • Configure and program touch screen based whole house control systems. Interface to other subsystems.
  • Install high end home theaters, audio/video distribution systems.

 

Skills/Experience/Education:

 

  • Successful candidates will have a minimum of 2 years experience in flat panel and home theater integration deployment services. 
  • This role requires an individual who is technically competent with detailed working knowledge of various consumer electronic products including, TVs, HDTV, LCD, VCRs, DVD players, digital cameras, camcorders, Hi-Fi audio equipment, car audio, etc. from various manufacturers such as SONY, PANASONIC, RCA, SAMSUNG, JVC, KENWOOD, etc. 
  • The successful candidate must also be experienced in the use of all associated test equipment, including oscilloscope, frequency counters, pattern generators, and multi-metres. 
  • The successful candidate should posses strong diagnostic and analytical skills and excellent organizational and follow up skills. 
  • The successful candidate should have their own tools related to this work. 
  • The successful candidate must also possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with a strong command of the English language, and possess the ability to perform tasks accurately and thoroughly, with minimal errors. 
  • This role requires a dedicated team player who is able to work under pressure, who will foster a positive work environment, and who will assist co-workers and supervisors.  Intermediate skills with MS Office applications are required.
  • Education: Grade 12 or equivalent is desired, although a combination of relevant education, training, and experience will be considered. 
  • Electronics Diploma and additional Manufacturer Authorizations are an asset. 
  • A+ Certification is not required but will be considered an asset.

Compensation:

 

Paid a fixed rate per service call.
