Description
The Salvation Army London Centre of Hope Maintenance Worker is responsible to carry-out ongoing maintenance and repairs to the Centre of Hope, in cooperation with the Environmental Services Director and Maintenance Coordinator. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
To complete all duties in accordance with the Standards and Policies & Procedures of The Salvation Army London Centre of Hope Participate in regular staff meetings to review operational effectiveness, changes in policies and procedures, and in-service training As required and as applicable, make suggestions that will improve efficiency, working conditions or procedures to the Environmental Services Director Ensure all duties assigned to shift are completed Inspect washrooms for signs of damage and report to Environmental Services Director Inspect building daily for burnt out lights and replace as required Pressure wash walkways and patios on a rotating basis Shovel and salt walkways as needed and requested Perform repairs and maintenance as requested or assigned by Environmental Services Director Assist Maintenance Coordinator as assigned by Environmental Services Director To promote the mission, policies and objectives of The Salvation Army To maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clientele and coworkers of The Salvation Army London Centre of Hope Participate as an active and responsible team member in all work groups through which position responsibilities are achieved To treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution Represent the organization in a professional manner, acting in the best interest of the employer at all times Participate in ongoing professional development and trainingHealth and Safety
Responsible to work in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Acts and Regulations Monitor and report regularly any concern regarding adherence to the acceptable health standards and that physical property is maintained, arranging for repairs as necessary Responsible to use personal protective equipment and clothing as directed by the employer Responsible to report workplace hazards and dangers Responsible to work in a manner as required by the employer and use the prescribed safety equipment Responsible to report workplace injuries or illnessPerform other position related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Flexibility in scheduling is required. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour paid meal break. The operational hours of this facility are 24/7.
Shifts: Saturday to Wednesday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
End Date: September 30, 2024
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Secondary School Diploma Additional training in Facility Services preferred Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and a current copy of a Driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Alternative combinations of education and experience may be consideredEXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of building systems preferredSKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment when making decisions Excellent organizational skills, ability to follow detailed instructions Demonstrates maintenance skills at a professional level (i.e., minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting) Capable of operating hand and power tools Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilitiesInterested applicants must respond in writing with a cover letter and resume.
