Your Opportunity:

Unit 72 at Rockyview General Hospital provides inpatient care to acute general medical patients with a focus on heart failure; including those admitted to Family Medicine/Hospitalist service, and Internal Medicine. We have a busy, dynamic team environment with a consistently high standard of care and are committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for all. This Nurse Clinician (NC) role will challenge you with opportunities to grow as a leader, a registered nurse and clinician. As the NC you will work in collaboration with the Physicians, and a multidisciplinary team to ensure that continuity of care is provided. You will monitor and evaluate ongoing care provisions; support, foster and implement evidence based practices; and be a clinical resource to ensure safe and effective patient care is being delivered. You will be an active participant in discharge planning rounds; communicate Physician orders and plan of treatment changes; and ensure the care the patient receives is optimal and that the admission/discharge process is both timely and efficient.You will co-ordinate the workflow and delivery of patient care by reassessing priorities and respond; accordingly, act as a patient advocate and provide a link between the patients, families and care providers to identify and resolve issues; and demonstrate professional leadership and act as a role model to enhance positive interpersonal relationships and team effectiveness.Your passion for quality improvement on the unit; commitment to excellence in patient and family centered care; ability to act as a mentor using the principles of adult learning; communication skills both verbal and written; conflict resolution, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills; positive attitude and ability to foster and promote a positive team environment are all required of this role.

Description:

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Excellent communication, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills. Leading quality improvement projects, working groups or committees. Quality Improvement certification-AHS AIW - Yellow Belt. Leadership development courses within the last 2 years. Demonstrated understanding of the LEADS framework. Demonstrates ability to work autonomously in a team lead role. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
