Union: MOVEUP 

Monthly Salary Range: MoveUp Group 10 with TMA, MIN $6,958.00 - MAX $8,344.00 is available through annual general wage/step increases.

Recruitment Range: MIN $6,958 – STEP 3 $7,726.

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In exceptional cases, candidates may be hired above the recruitment range, provided agreement is reached with the Union.

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Business Systems, the Application and Database Analyst provides a variety of services to ensure the reliability, functionality, administration and performance of the Corporation’s databases and application environment. This includes creating, maintaining, and supporting all databases and ensuring the structural integrity of all database objects. This also includes creating and maintaining custom, ad hoc, and regular reports using different reporting systems. In conjunction with the Manager Enterprise Business Systems and ERP work lead, the Application and Database Analyst administers, maintains and supports BC Transit’s business systems to ensure the efficient operation, functionality, and availability of critical business systems.

The Application and Database Analyst evaluates and makes recommendations to the Manager Enterprise Business Systems and ERP work lead on current and future software and hardware requirements, as well as develops proposals for, and implements, approved system enhancements.

  • Has deep understanding of the enterprise business systems environments, especially back-end databases, such as Oracle database and MS SQL databases. Has the knowledge and understanding of system Interoperability and is familiar with data integration techniques and tools that facilitate the exchange of data between disparate systems.
  • Creates, maintains, and supports all databases and applications as required for development, Backup, restore, testing, training/education and production usage to ensure maximum availability.

  • Designs, creates, and ensures structural integrity of all database objects, including tables, views, indexes, sequences, etc. from approved information given by application developers or vendors of purchased systems.

  • Works with other team members to implement, maintain and support BC Transit’s enterprise business systems (ERP, HRIS, Operations systems, etc.).

  • Implements and enforces security for BC Transit’s approved and supported databases and applications.

  • Evaluates, recommends, and plans the databases required for new products or releases, to ensure compatibility and minimal impact of production.

  • Works with internal stakeholders and/or liaises between BC Transit and third-party vendors or contractors to manages upgrades, patches and bug fixes for database and applications; including user acceptance testing, Change and Release management and documentation.
