The Canadian Press is looking for an experienced, passionate and creative broadcast journalist to manage its daily video operations.

Based in Toronto and reporting to the Director, Audio & Video, the successful candidate will be a skilled news leader with excellent news judgment as well as expertise in crafting impactful video content.

They will lead the daily video file; help modernize our video products and guide the team on new forms of broadcast newsgathering and cross-platform storytelling.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of CP’s video service
  • Work closely with CP bureaus and departments across the country to build a comprehensive video file each day
  • Assign and oversee the creation of editorial video content
  • Coach and provide feedback to staff on broadcasting best-practices, with an eye to maintaining CP style and the highest quality video content
  • Analyze and make strategic recommendations on technology, equipment and workflows
  • Pursue video from a variety of social media and UGC sources, and secure the rights for CP to use in our editorial coverage.
  • Attend and actively participate in editorial meetings
  • Assist in the recruiting and training of new staff
  • Collaborate on editors’ schedules and adjust based on news/editorial demands.
  • Participate in long-term planning and special projects
  • Stay up to date on industry trends
  • Play a leadership role in the implementation and usage of analytics products

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a visuals and/or video role in a daily newsroom
  • Experience in a supervisory, management or managing editor role in a daily newsroom
  • Previous experience as a broadcast journalist an asset
  • Strong news judgment with experience in a breaking-news environment
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience with video editing software and publishing platforms
  • Knowledge of Canadian Press content and CP style
  • Understanding of the Canadian media landscape, including familiarity with broadcasting
  • Understanding and awareness of the issues and most-important stories affecting Canadians

Superviseur(e) de production, vidéo

 

La Presse Canadienne est à la recherche d’un(e) journaliste expérimenté(e), passionné(e) et créatif(ve) pour gérer ses opérations vidéo quotidiennes.

Basée à Toronto et relevant de la direction de l’audio et vidéo, la personne choisie sera un chef d’équipe compétent, doté d’u excellent jugement journalistique et d’une expertise dans la création de contenus vidéo percutants.

Elle dirigera notre production vidéo quotidienne; contribuera à moderniser nos produits vidéo et guidera l’équipe vers de nouvelles formes de collecte d’information pour fins de diffusion et de reportages multiplateformes.

Les principales responsabilités comprennent :

· Gestion des opérations quotidiennes du service vidéo de la PC

· Collaboration étroite avec les bureaux et services de la PC à travers le pays pour réaliser une production vidéo complète tous les jours

· Affectation et supervision de la création du contenu journalistique vidéo

· Encadrement et formation du personnel sur les meilleures pratiques en matière de diffusion, en veillant à maintenir le style de la PC et un contenu vidéo de la plus haute qualité

· Analyse et recommandations stratégiques concernant la technologie, l’équipement et le mode de travail

· Recherche des vidéos à partir d’une variété de réseaux sociaux et de sources UGC, et obtenir les droits pour la PC afin de les utiliser pour notre couverture journalistique

· Assistance et participation active aux réunions de production

· Aide au recrutement et à la formation de nouveaux employés

· Collaboration aux horaires ajustés selon les demandes de l’actualité

· Participation à la planification à long terme et aux projets spéciaux

· Se tenir au courant des tendances du secteur

· Rôle de premier plan dans la mise en place et l’utilisation des produits d’analyse

 

Exigences :

· Minimum de trois ans d’expérience dans une fonction visuelle et/ou vidéo dans une salle de rédaction d’un média quotidien

· Expérience dans une fonction de supervision, gestion ou direction de l’information dans une salle de rédaction d’un média quotidien

· Expérience préalable comme journaliste en téléradiodiffusion est un atout

· Solide jugement journalistique avec expérience dans un environnement de nouvelles de dernière heure

· Excellentes aptitudes de rédaction et de communication  

· Expérience avec les logiciels de montage vidéo et les plateformes de publication

· Connaissance du contenu et du style de La Presse Canadienne

· Compréhension du paysage médiatique canadien, y compris familiarité avec la téléradiodiffusion

· Compréhension et sensibilisation aux questions et sujets les plus importants qui touchent les Canadiens.
