The Manager, Project Portfolio Management Technology contributes to the overall success of the COO- Technology Department in Canada by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

As part of the Project Portfolio Management Technology team, the incumbent is responsible for providing ongoing support and detailed analysis for Clarity PPM to all supported units. This includes managing the support functions, responding to support calls/tickets as required, user administration, data analytics, reporting and running/monitoring jobs. This may also include participating in the testing of enhancements, training of users, assisting with research and analysis leading to the definition of requirements and processes to assist in the resolution of complex business problems.

 


Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Assist the Senior Manager/Project Manager by conducting research and analysis, and accurately and clearly defining user requirements and processes for well-defined tasks to assist in the resolution of problems to meet the needs of the business.  This may involve participation in rapid prototyping, with requirements and solutions developed on an iterative basis that provides interim deliverables until a final production solution is created.
  • Define, assess and writes detailed analysis and documentation of Business Requirements for new applications & legacy systems enhancements, to be designed by development groups
  • Participate in the systems implementation process by assisting in the development of test cases and the conducting of testing, assisting in the definition of user procedures and workflows, assisting in the development of conversion and implementation strategies, and assisting in the provision of user documentation, user training, and post-implementation support.
  • Comply with and adopt all that laid down QAT test processes and procedures for all testing activities, and ensure that all the scenarios and expectations of the stakeholders are met and captured in testing; and document detailed test cases, test data; Follow QA best practices, methodologies, and standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality software
  • Assist in the provision of business support to all global units, including ad hoc queries and MIS, user training, and assisting with the design and implementation of systems enhancements.  This is made more challenging due to differences in time zones and the variation in the business lines. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that management is kept informed, and that problems and issues are escalated appropriately.
  • Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of the Division's business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, Back Office processes, and rapidly changing technology to effectively assist in the provision of business solutions and services to the end user business lines.
  • Creates an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Previous experience in a leadership role would be a strong asset
  • Advanced VBA, Power Queries, Power Pivot experience would be an asset
  • Power BI experience would be a strong asset
  • Being fluent in Spanish (written and verbal), would be an asset.
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or technical institute degree/ certificate or equivalent post-secondary education
