Role Description
Reporting directly to the Manager – Investment Management, the Portfolio Accountant will join our portfolio accounting team. As an integral member of the Portfolio Accounting Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial accounting support to the team. We are looking for a candidate with a strong attention to detail and the ability to organize, prioritize and manage time in a fast-paced environment working towards bringing tasks to completion.
Responsibilities
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports such as cash and share capital transactionsMaintain the portfolio level general ledger – monthly accruals and balance sheet reconciliationsAssist in the compilation of the quarterly financial statements and reporting packagesPrepare the real estate monthly and quarterly actual cashflow schedule for delivery to FP&AProcess invoices & payments on an ad hoc basisPrepare and maintain monthly government and regulatory filings (ie. HST/GST/QST returns, Statistics Canada reports)Prepare and reconciliation of monthly and quarterly return calculationsMaintenance of the financial records for intercompany transactions, contributions, distributions, legal and tax compliance.Support processes for interim and year-end external auditAssist in the preparation of annual budget and forecast reportingSupport ad-hoc and various projects as they ariseExperience and Qualifications
Enrolled in mid-level of the CPA program2+ years related experience in accounting/financial analysis.Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving and analytical skillsA strong work ethic, detailed oriented. ability to allocate time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands, and prioritizeExcellent communication skills both oral and writtenAbility to effectively partner and liaise with all levels of the business and develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with internal team members and external contactsAbility to exercise confidentiality and places priority on client serviceIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePointPrior experience with Yardi Voyager is an asset.Don’t have all the above skills?
