ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrician to join our Process Plant Maintenance team reporting to the Process Plant Electrical Supervisor.

 

Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential.  The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.

 

Agnico Eagle Mines' Detour Lake Mine is situated on the traditional homelands of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, Moose Cree First Nation, and Taykwa Tagamou Nation. The Electrician  will be responsible for ensuring reliable and proper function of all process plant electrical systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Ensuring the proper functioning of all electrical assets in the facility and scheduled preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair or replacement of electrical equipment;
  • Complying with all safety policies, procedures and regulations;
  • Assisting in maintaining records of all electrical inventories, placing orders for spare parts and equipment and keeping a log of electrical repairs and completed maintenance;
  • Diagnosing and detecting faults in complex electronic and electrical equipment;
  • Assisting in the development, construction and installation of new electrical systems;
  • Maintaining electrical transformers, generators, variable frequency drives, instrumentation, motors, lighting, and medium to high voltage distribution, substations and control systems.
QUALIFICATIONS

 

Our ideal candidate has:

 

  • Ontario Provincial or Interprovincial Electrician Trade Certificate with a minimum of three (3) years’ related professional work experience;
  • Safety conscious attitude is essential;
  • Knowledge of variable speed drives is an asset;
  • Experience in computer based maintenance system (SAP preferred);
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
