Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact:

The Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department is currently growing to respond to the needs of our nuclear portfolio including OPG, Bruce Power, New Brunswick Power and Cernavoda, among others. We are looking for highly motivated engineers to:

Perform project engineering function for design engineering projects including: Development of task order quotation and or full-length proposals Prepare project design plan and project schedule incorporating task logic and duration to determine project critical path and float at task level Engineering project management to ensure project is being executed to plan as well as scope and budget control Project risk management and issues tracking/resolution In addition to project engineering function, the candidate is expected to be involved in design projects and carry out activities that can include: Piping and process systems design, including preparation of system design specification, flow diagrams, piping isometric drawings and TSSA registration packages Vendor-interface and preparation of equipment & component specifications to facilitate procurement including selection of nuclear (Class 1/2/3) and conventional (Class 6) valves, flanges, fittings, pumps and heat exchangers. Design assistance with technical evaluations, independent third party reviews, design walkdowns, system hydraulic calculations, component sizing calculations and HVAC flow balance calculations. Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements. Provide field support to multi-disciplined plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering. Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution. Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting/engineering to support refurbishment projects and operating unit (capital) projects. Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects. Stay current with developments within their field of expertise.

What You Need to Succeed :

Must have experience in a project driven environment with the capability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and within project constraints (time, cost, quality). Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities efficiently Must have a strong attention to detail and to quality assurance requirements Demonstrated experience in preparation of reports, proposals, recommendations, and presentations for internal and external clients. Demonstrated knowledge of CANDU technology, strong understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation Past experience in one or more CANDU refurbishment projects Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards including but not limited to CSA N285, ASME Section III, Section VIII and B31.1. ASME Section III Appendix XXIII qualification is considered an asset. Knowledge and implementation of client Engineering Change Control. Working knowledge of Nuclear Quality Assurance Standards such as N299 and CSA N286 A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical or Structural/Civil Engineering is required. Candidates are expected to have or to pursue attainment of the P.Eng. designation. Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of station customers. A period of 2 to 4 years relevant experience is considered necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and be team player. Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities efficiently.
