Position Title: Director, Sales & Business Development

Position Overview

Reporting to the VP, Global Sales, the Director, Sales & Business Development (furthermore referred to as (“The Director”) will be accountable for driving sales for CMH’s Heli-Skiing and Summer Adventures through direct, agency and travel trade channels. The Director will be responsible for leading the development of annual and ongoing sales planning, lead generation, reporting, strategies, promotions, and conversion of agency, wholesaler, and tour operator sales. The Director will also provide leadership and oversight of the Inside Sales team with the Manager, Inside Sales as a direct report. They will be responsible for collaborating with key CMH stakeholders to drive direct sales and revenue growth for the business.

This position will be the face of CMH to agencies, wholesalers and tour operators including; training and communication with on CMH’s behalf. The Director will be expected to actively identify and seek out new business leads for both the Summer and Heli-Skiing product. The Director will strive to ensure that sales targets and brand goals are achieved through the acquisition of new partners and the continued conversion of existing partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work with the senior leadership to build a culture that prioritizes all aspects of safety, the best possible experience for our employees and guests, recognizes our responsibility to the communities and mountain environment we are so privileged to operate in, and achieves leading financial results. Help develop and implement strategic goals and objectives aligned with the overall CMH business strategy.  Develops and implements key performance objectives to meet business and guest expectations and optimize employee productivity in line with business growth. Plan and participate in meetings with key leadership and project teams as and when necessary and provides necessary inputs for the timely completion of tasks.  New Business Acquisition from sourcing, approaching, and closing new business opportunities within the travel trade market. Lead the design and implementation of a multi-year Summer Adventures business plan. Create leads from your own prospecting efforts, leveraging contacts, social media platforms to identify prospects. Creating and conducting presentations and training regularly, both in-person and remote, to new prospects and existing partners. Attending travel trade shows and networking events to promote the brand. Refine the CMH offer and evolve tactics to conduct analysis to support critical business decisions based on data and facts. Ability to handle a large portfolio of travel trade partners, ensuring they all feel supported and are achieving their goals. Organize and stick to a call plan, ensuring agents are contacted regularly, as required. Participate in the strategic process to ensure that CMH has the right products and packages to fill key periods and target markets. Lead, coach, and manage direct reports to meet weekly, monthly, and annual sales targets. Support and oversee process changes and automation in the sales function, including improvements to reservation platform. Support escalations and challenging situations with guests and team members. Partner in the brand development process creating timelines and key analytical and decision-making requirements for business improvements. Work closely with the VP, Global Sales to improve business processes and selling tools. Daily data input into Microsoft CRM to track lead generation effort. Ensure spending is in line with the sales budget. Represent CMH as a brand ambassador in a professional, energetic manner. Manage multiple projects and effectively prioritize tasks, responsibilities, and goals; use goals to guide actions and create detailed action plans. Help develop and support implementation of OHS, sustainability, and DEI initiatives. Train, participate in and provide support, as required, during emergency response situations. Support guests and employees in the field program during area visits, as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Business Development leadership role in the luxury, transportation, ski/ride resort, hospitality, or tourism industry. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office & database systems required. Experience with CRM and booking/reservation software.

Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as an ability to learn other relevant software platforms. Able to prioritize tasks and responsibilities in a complex and fast-paced environment with seasonal workload fluctuations and changing priorities. Trustworthy, goal-oriented, respectful, and self-directed in completing the core functions of the role. Confidence to interact with all levels of the company in a hub-and-spoke model in which many individuals are remote.

Working Conditions

Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a regular basis. This position requires you to work on evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business. This position will require frequent travel to CMH areas, as well as other business-related travel. Travel Requirements

This position will require travel at various times throughout the year. The successful candidate should expect to travel 25% of their time.

Compensation

A competitive compensation package will be provided including an attractive base salary which is based upon qualifications, experience, and skill set, as well as an annual incentive program. Further details will be discussed in a personal interview.
