Position Overview A vacancy exists within the Parks Department at Maplewood Farm for an Auxiliary Cashier – Children’s Farm. This is cashiering, public contact work and routine clerical work of some complexity. The incumbent performs a variety of tasks involving the provision of assistance and information to the public; receiving and reconciling cash payments; and other routine support tasks. The Cashier exercises some independence of judgement and action within established guidelines and refers unusual or complex matters to a superior. Work performance is reviewed by a superior in terms of efficient services rendered to the public. The successful applicant will possess: · Sound knowledge of the facility and associated activities or events;· Sound knowledge of the office practices and procedures applicable to the work;· Sound knowledge of the standard methods of recording, receiving and reconciling cash;· Sound knowledge of the types of animals cared for at the farm;· Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public and answer questions;· Ability to receive monies, make change, upon request issue receipts and reconcile cash accurately;· Ability to perform clerical tasks and incidental typing and word processing tasks related to the work;· Ability to perform minor clean-up tasks related to the work;· Ability to maintain store and merchandise cleanliness and re-stock as needed.

Qualifications Completion of the 11th grade including or supplemented by courses in standard commercial subjects plus some experience in working with the public; some experience working with cash preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The Cashier will also demonstrate experience in dealing with bookings, rentals, and program reservations, with experience in utilizing Square POS being considered a valuable asset.
