Accounting Technician

South Country Co-op is currently seeking a collaborative, action-orientated and strong attention to details individual to join our Finance team on a full-time basis in executing the department’s goals and objectives.
Reporting to the Account, the Accounting Technician is responsible for ensuring effective flow of information, communication and execution of world-class customer service that is friendly and efficient. If you possess experience in an office environment, are flexible, have a proficiency in the Microsoft applications, and general knowledge of accounting functions, then this is the role for you
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Preparation of general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations within required deadlines Preparation of journal entries and various data entry tasks as required Gathering of information, data entry and preparation of weekly sales reports Assist in preparing and analyzing period end gross margins, weekly and period end reports Assistance with preparation of year-end working paper files within required deadlines Preparation of retail communications regarding reconciliations Cross reference, extend outstanding retail lists, prepare retail communications regarding gross margins, online receiving books and irregularities as required Provide support and backup to both Team Members and Team Leaders on general administration and accounting activities Prepare, review and/or edit various forms of correspondence such as letters, forms, invoices, reports and other documents Assist as required in payables data entry, reviewing of supplier statements, and replying to supplier enquiries Assist as required in auditing and processing of daily sales Assist in maintaining equity General office duties, such as organizing, maintaining and coordinating office records and files, attending to calls and enquiries via phone and email Responsibly for achieving targeting outcomes and timelines, setting priorities, and exercising good judgement in decision making Other office duties as requiredQualifications
High School Diploma and a 2-year Business or Office Administration Diploma or equivalent with a preference in Accounting or Financial Services major. Minimum 2 years’ experience in an office environment or similar role General knowledge of all accounting functions required Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Highly effective prioritization, multi-tasking and time management skills to meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAvailability: Monday to Friday; 7:30am to 4:30pm.
