Machine Technical Operator

SHIFT : Continental Night Shift (6pm-6am)
PURPOSE STATEMENT :
To ensure the efficient running of production lines by skillfully operating, monitoring, adjusting and maintaining machines with a strong sense of pride and ownership of equipment and its surrounding area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Operation Duties:
- Have complete knowledge of routine tasks including operating, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining equipment.
- Conduct changeover on lines throughout shift with production assistance. MTO is fully responsible for ensuring correct settings on equipment is achieved. Machine will not start until verified by MTO.
- Prevent equipment deterioration through proper operation.
- Fill out non-conformance form for bad shipper/retail boxes with production supervisor.
- Dispatch mechanic if repair/adjustment requires maintenance support.
- Prepares work orders using computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Maintenance Duties:
- Conduct Line Inspections.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance (PMs) on machines when they are not in use.
- Continuously monitor lines and detect defects, abnormalities, and emerging issues by understanding the machine's components, identifying possible quality issues and determining their causes before they become failures. Report back to maintenance.
- Assist on startup Sunday to prepare machines for Sunday night production start up.
- When breakdown occurs on equipment, work with and assist technician on repairs.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
- Previous experience operating high-speed processing equipment and working with automation preferred
- Familiarity with parts and functions of processing equipment preferred
- Troubleshooting skills are an asset
- Basic knowledge of tools is an asset
EDUCATION:
- High school or equivalent
OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Mechanically inclined
- Be willing and capable of learning and upgrading skills to deal with new technology
- Highly Responsive: ability to react, ability to balance daily production priorities, strong observation and listening skills, can handle multiple activities, calm yet focused under crisis
- Communication: strong communication skills and listening skills
