Interim Financial Controller
Reports to: Executive Director
Duration: 6 Months (possibility of permanent)
Location: Waterloo, Canada
Hybrid
Our client a global based business urgently needs a seasoned finance professional to help steer them through a period of transformation and change. The Interim will have responsibility for financial accounting & reporting, fixed assets, budgeting, and forecasting while ensuring that proper internal controls and compliance are adhered to. This is an exciting mandate for a seasoned, hands-on leader who loves driving change and making an impact.
Key Accountabilities:
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements
- Oversee & manage AR, AP, fixed assets, general accounting including preparation of management reports and financial statements.
- Reviewing month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
- Overseeing general ledger and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate Canadian CICA standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, support, and promote business process automation initiatives
- Contributing to the development of effective business policies and procedures for the organization and implementing such practices across the organization.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly management statements, including providing appropriate analysis.
- Ensure proper internal controls are updated and adhered to promote best practices in managing data requirements and safeguarding data integrity, with a strong focus on collaboration with project controls personnel.
- Collaborate closely with operations management to develop timely budgets and forecasts and provide analysis and explanations of the results.
- Liaise with financial and non-financial managers at the parent company, as well as with other corporate departments, on policies and procedures
- Ad hoc initiatives as required
Qualifications & Education:
- 5+ years' leadership experience in a senior accounting role in a manufacturing organization.
- Experience in a job-costing environment a definite asset
- Experience working in an ERP environment, MS Dynamics 360 F&O (Finance & Operations) a definite asset
- Recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA) or similar.
- Strong interpersonal abilities, an effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing long-term quality service.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills working with diverse groups.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to inspire and mentor staff and delegate appropriately, fostering staff accountability and responsibility.
