Power BI Architect

Overview Adastra is seeking an experienced Power BI Architect to join our Visualization Practice. In this role, you’ll design and implement scalable Power BI solutions, shape governance frameworks, and contribute to impactful analytics projects across diverse industries. Location: Greater Toronto Area, ON (Hybrid, up to 3 days onsite) Status: Full-Time Responsibilities: Develop and execute a Power BI implementation roadmap to achieve target architecture Design and implement Power BI platforms, including architecture (gateways, capacities), security, and admin settings for both cloud and on-premises environments Define governance and delivery models to support a self-serve BI platform Design and build complex Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, dataflows, and datamarts Conduct skills assessments and deliver Power BI training sessions as needed Plan and execute migrations from legacy BI systems to Power BI Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Proven experience implementing Power BI platforms (Power BI Service and PBIRS) 3+ years of professional experience in a Power BI Architect role 3+ years as a hands-on Power BI Report Developer (Power BI Reports, Paginated Reports, or SSRS) Solid Center of Excellence (CoE) and Governance experience as it relates to Business Intelligence and Power BI Expertise with composite models, aggregations, and advanced DAX Proficiency in SQL and data warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modeling) Strong understanding of security and governance configurations within Power BI Familiarity with 3rd-party tools such as Tabular Editor and DAX Studio Knowledge of database management systems, OLAP, and ETL frameworks Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, innovative approach Excellent communication and client engagement skills Nice to Have: Experience with Analysis Services Tabular models (SSAS or AAS) Experience with Power BI Dataflows and Datamarts Familiarity with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) About Adastra For more than 25 years, Adastra Corporation has been hyper-focused on data and the infrastructures to support it.
