Reporting to the Regional Vice-President, each Regional Director will lead, coach, and mentor a team of Relationship Managers and Senior Relationship Managers located in these markets. Each Regional Director Will Lead the team in the development of strategies to retain existing customers and enhance the impact EDC has with these customers Lead the team in the origination of new customers Proactively develop and maintain relationships with senior and executive level contacts across the customer portfolio, prospective new customers, the banking community, Federal & Provincial partners, and other key stakeholders across the trade ecosystem Contribute to the development of the district and regional market strategy and business plan Discipline Summary Creates international trade focused business development opportunities with an existing portfolio of commercial segment companies across a spectrum of industry sectors Identifies, originates, develops, and closes business development opportunities with new companies Builds and maintains effective long-term strategic relationships with existing and prospective customers, key partners, stakeholders, and industry associations Gathers and shares market intelligence across various sectors through external interactions with banks, exporters, industry associations and others to develop new opportunities and inform new services and solutions customized to meet the needs of the market What You Will Be Doing Lead the identification, creation, and development of new business opportunities with high business impact with both current and potential clients Lead a team to deliver results in collaboration with internal partners Facilitate the origination of new business through direct prospecting and through partners Actively promote sector/market opportunities by communicating strategies and initiatives to internal partners and external clients and partners Lead the development and execution of functional business strategies and policies Lead the performance and skill/career development of the team to ensure the capacity and capability to address the needs of the organization Provide effective recruiting, staffing, career development planning, recognition, and rewards What We Are Looking For Completed an Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or in a related field Minimum 7 years of business development experience in international business and/or financial services, or related experience Proven leadership skills and experience to effectively delegate, coach and motivate team members Advanced knowledge of sales and strategic client management best practices Bilingual in both official languages (English and French) What Will Make You Stand Out MBA, CFA or an equivalent combination of education and work experience Knowledge of bank credit and financing practices – can facilitate EDC solutions through the banking channel, both domestically and internationally Eligibility EDC is committed to Fair Employment Practices and preference will be given to a candidate who is able to work legally in Canada at the time of application (Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents).
