Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy procedures and QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate and interface with client(s), suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines to execute assigned engineering work. Become involved in conceptual, preliminary and/or detailed design phases to support CANDU and other nuclear electrical systems and modifications. Prepare technical documents, such as engineering drawings (including GAs, DDs, EDs), change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, component specification sheets, commissioning specifications, etc. Participate in review of interfacing discipline's documentation. Prepare requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement. Prepare scope of work and input to bid proposals. Provide prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical engineering related matters. Interface and provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters. Assist field construction and execution activities, such as field changes, design revisions, commissioning, AFS, closeout, etc. Perform field walk‑downs during different design phases and prepare walk‑down reports as required. Qualifications & Experience Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent, recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario. Minimum 5‑7 years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design in the nuclear industry. Experience with medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems, including preparation of single‑line diagrams, elementary diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable block diagrams and schedules, and calculation of power demand/electrical load lists. Experience with SmartPlant Electrical (SEL), including ability to configure and maintain the SEL database, generate and update deliverables, and ensure consistency across integrated engineering systems supporting design traceability, configuration control, and regulatory compliance in complex engineering environments is highly desirable. Experience in modelling electrical power systems and use of analysis functions in ETAP, or other similar software program is an asset. Experience with transformer sizing, cable sizing, circuit breaker sizing calculations. Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset. Good working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, such as CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I and the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC). Good knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems. Familiar with specifying and procurement support for electrical equipment such as transformers, MCCs, low voltage distribution load centres, UPS systems including rectifiers and inverters and diesel generators (emergency and standby), power and control and instrumentation cables. Shall have fundamental technical knowledge to resolve engineering issues or technical problems. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
