We are currently supporting a client in Mississauga, ON, who is looking for an experienced
Electrical Engineer – Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
to join their Product Engineering team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical architectures for battery packs and BESS systems.
  • Select, integrate, and specify components for power conversion, distribution, monitoring, and safety.
  • Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness designs, and BOMs using CAD/ECAD tools.
  • Develop and execute test plans for performance, safety, LV/HV isolation, EMC, and compliance.
  • Support BMS integration, control systems, sensing, and monitoring hardware.
  • Lead design reviews, DFMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop electrical test fixtures, jigs, and assembly processes.
  • Support prototype builds, manufacturing transfer, and supplier qualification.

Key Deliverables (First 6–12 months):

  • Complete electrical design/assembly of next-gen zinc-air cells, battery packs, and BESS engineering samples.
  • Drive best practices in electrical engineering and ECM.
  • Deliver design reviews and release complete design documentation.
  • Release finalized electrical design packages for manufacturing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in electrical design for battery energy storage or industrial power systems.
  • Experience with power conversion (DC/DC) systems.
  • PEO registration is an asset.
  • Strong component selection, integration, problem-solving, and hands-on engineering skills.
  • Familiarity with standards such as UL, IEC, CE.
