Join to apply for the Senior DevOps Specialist role at Thales Location: Ottawa, Canada Position Summary Thales requires a Senior DevOps Specialist with experience in automating, configuring, and managing both Windows and Linux server environments. In this role you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions to streamline server configuration, deployment, and management processes using Ansible. You will work closely with several teams to ensure consistency, security, and efficiency across the solution path. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and manage Ansible playbooks and roles to automate configuration tasks across Windows and Linux servers. Implement Ansible best practices and integrate Ansible workflows with CI/CD pipelines to enable automated deployments and updates. Document Ansible playbooks, roles, and workflows for reference and knowledge sharing. Provide guidance and support to other teams on using and developing Ansible-based automation. Develop KPIs to assess DevOps efficiency and reliability. Regulatory Compliance Requirements Requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, ITAR or EAR. Requires a positive Controlled Goods assessment under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program. Required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the NATO Secret Level. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 5 years of proven experience in a Senior DevOps Engineering role. Demonstrated problem‑solving and analytic skills with a desire to learn. Preferred Qualifications Expertise in Windows and Linux server administration and scripting (PowerShell and Bash). Strong knowledge of Ansible, version control (Git), and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.). Familiarity with automation and industrialization methods, programming languages (Go, Python, Bash), and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, networking, cybersecurity basics, containers, orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
