Field based - Protection and Control Commissioning Tech/Specialist/Engineer Join to apply for the Field based - Protection and Control Commissioning Tech/Specialist/Engineer role at Phasor Engineering Inc. Phasor Engineering Inc. is a dynamic Alberta based company specializing in engineering, design and testing/commissioning of medium to high voltage electrical facilities. We provide cost‑effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering through all project stages, from preliminary engineering to commissioning and startup. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Protection and Control Testing Engineer, P&C Technologist / Specialist / Technician to join our team on a full‑time basis. If you are an excellent communicator, skilled problem‑solver and have a strong attention to detail, we offer a dynamic work environment where you will be continuously challenged in all aspects of the testing and commissioning process. This is a field based position; extended shifts out of town are required. Responsibilities Testing and commissioning of power system protection & control schemes in the utility, power generation and oil & gas industry Testing of microprocessor relays/IED with secondary relay injection test sets SCADA point testing Reading and interpreting drawings, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues Report preparation and submission Assisting with generation of commissioning startup procedures or work instructions Ensuring compliance with all safety practices as per corporate, client and industry standards Initiating and/or responding to customer inquiries, discussing trouble details and confirming resolutions Qualifications Bearer of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrical Technician Journeyman Ticket or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognised institute 2+ years of experience in Protection and Controls testing within MV and HV power systems Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an extreme attention to detail Knowledge of the Microsoft Office software suite and strong computer skills Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues simultaneously Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem‑solving skills Ability to work for extended periods out of town Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record Background checks and drug and alcohol pre‑access testing will be required as part of employment Requirements Must be legally able to work in Canada; VISA sponsorship is not available for this position. Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record Ability to work for extended periods out of town Additional Information Typical shifts will range from 4/3, 8/6, 10/4 and 14/7 Working hours are generally from 7 am – 5:30 pm (10 hrs/day) Relocation is not required as part of employment Daily work hours and shifts are subject to change based on project requirements; applicants must be flexible to accommodate these changes when required Phasor Engineering Inc. offers a competitive compensation and benefits package and excellent opportunities for growth and advancement.
