Technical Infrastructure Architect 2 Competition No: Duration: Regular Full Time Salary: $8,285 – 8,647 – 9,014 – 9,394 – 9,811/month (2024 Rates) Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM Special Notes: Subject to Note ‘T’ of Schedule ‘B’ of the CUPE 23 Inside Division Collective Agreement Last Updated: 11/25/25 This is skilled technical work in maintaining the performance of the City’s data networks (local and remote). Under the general direction of a supervisor, an incumbent of this class performs tasks related to sustaining the performance and security of the network, related infrastructures and the configuration and deployment of infrastructure software and hardware, ensuring the functionality and efficiency of local and wide area networks and related infrastructure, as well as troubleshooting network hardware, software and related problems. Responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing network and infrastructure performance and effects changes to increase the network’s efficiency; supporting specialized technologies; investigates and resolves network hardware, software, and systems problems; prepares and maintains network and infrastructure documentation and capacity plans; designs or revises changes to network infrastructure and enterprise architecture in response to changing requirements; integrates and supports the development of on-premise and cloud-based disaster recovery practices and failovers. Performs related work as required. Qualifications include graduation from an institute of technology with a diploma in computer systems technologies with specific courses related to IT network system administration plus considerable related experience, including infrastructure management experience, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of local and wide area network technologies and standards, server and workstation operating systems, hardware platforms, firewalls and configuration options. Considerable knowledge of problem definition and solution techniques applicable to the work performed. Ability to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the City’s data networks and to implement remedial actions as required. Ability to investigate and resolve infrastructure hardware and operating system related systems problems, as related to the work performed. Ability to test and evaluate infrastructure application software and make recommendations regarding standard configurations. Ability to act as project leader regarding the enhancement and implementation of systems and information technologies and to establish priorities, schedule workload to meet deadlines and project objectives. Ability to prepare and present technical presentations both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of staff and external contacts.
