About the Role This is a full-time on-site role located in Toronto, ON. As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (Next-Gen Applications), you will design, develop, and maintain software applications tailored to enhance our security solutions. Responsibilities include writing and optimizing code, implementing back-end systems, and contributing to the overall software development lifecycle. Collaboration with a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality solutions is expected. Architect and build end-to-end features for a multi-tenant cloud application and companion mobile apps—owning design, implementation, testing, deployment, and observability. Define technical architecture (services, data models, APIs) using modern tools (e.g., Go or Rust for backend services; React/TypeScript for web UI; REST APIs; Kubernetes for orchestration; CI/CD pipelines). Design and implement device integration layers —including Bluetooth/BLE, IP-based communication, and other embedded system APIs to enable secure, real-time data exchange. Produce and maintain formal documentation: SRS (Software Requirements Specification)—functional/non-functional requirements, constraints, acceptance criteria; TSD (Technical Specification Document)—architecture diagrams, sequence/data-flow, API contracts, deployment topology, security controls. Coordinate vendors and third-party suppliers : plan deliverables, review design/documents, perform code reviews, enforce standards, and manage risks/dependencies across external teams. Deliver excellence : own timelines, backlog health, and release readiness; drive test automation, performance profiling, and production reliability (SLOs/SLIs). Security and compliance : implement application security best practices (authN/authZ, secrets, encryption, secure coding) and ensure data protection and auditability. Data & performance : optimize queries and storage, instrument telemetry, and tune responsiveness for interactive workflows and device communication. Cross-functional collaboration : work with Product, Design, Finance Ops, Field Operations, and Client Care to translate business objectives into technical solutions; mentor engineers and uphold coding standards. Qualifications 5+ years of professional software development with demonstrable full-stack ownership (frontend + backend + DevOps). Strong CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, distributed systems). Backend: proficiency in Go or Rust (or equivalent like Node.js/Java/Python) building secure, scalable services; experience designing robust web APIs (REST, gRPC). Cloud & DevOps: k8s, containers, CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps), infrastructure-as-code; experience with AWS/Azure/GCP. Documentation: proven experience authoring SRS and technical specs/TSD to guide delivery and serve as audit trails. Vendor management: track record coordinating external engineering teams with clear specs, SLAs, and quality gates. Bonus Points for Mobile hybrid development: familiarity with cross-platform frameworks such as Flutter or React Native. Device integration: experience with Bluetooth/BLE protocols, embedded system APIs, or IoT/wearable device communication. SQL optimization and database internals awareness; event-driven architectures (Kafka/Event Hubs). Security certifications or practical experience with cloud security models. Experience in data analytics products, interactive dashboards, or BI workflows. Systems thinking with a strong sense of craftsmanship and documentation discipline. Pragmatic leadership—able to mentor, review, and raise the engineering bar while shipping iteratively. Clear communicator who can align vendors and internal stakeholders and defend architectural decisions with data. Versatile and adaptable—willing to pick up new tools and frameworks as needed; focused on solving problems rather than adhering to a single stack.
