Director of MRO Operations We are seeking a high-caliber leader to oversee MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) production for a leading aviation organization. This is a senior-level, operationally focused role designed for someone who thrives on the hangar floor and has a genuine passion for developing people. As the Director of MRO Operations, your mission is to ensure that production is predictable, efficient, and held to the highest quality standards. You will focus on the "how" and the "who" driving execution excellence while building a tier of strong, accountable leaders within the maintenance organization. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Operations. Please note that this role is focused on operational execution and leadership; it does not assume regulatory ownership. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Direct Production: Lead day-to-day MRO operations to ensure projects stay on track and meet delivery goals. Drive Performance: Take ownership of key metrics like schedule adherence, labor efficiency, and overall hangar throughput. Establish Rhythms: Set the pace for the team through regular cadence reviews and clear performance standards. Maintain High Standards: Be a visible advocate for safety and quality, ensuring operational discipline is practiced across the board. Manage Risks: Identify potential project roadblocks early and lead the plan to fix them before they impact the customer. People & Culture Be Present: Spend time on the hangar floor as an engaged and accessible leader for the frontline teams. Coach & Mentor: Directly manage and develop Program Managers, Project Managers, and Crew Chiefs to sharpen their leadership skills. Build Culture: Foster a workplace that is respectful, inclusive, and driven by results and accountability. Support Growth: Proactively address performance concerns while championing opportunities for employees to grow within the company. Strategic Collaboration Remove Constraints: Partner with Planning, Supply Chain, and Quality departments to clear hurdles and keep production moving smoothly. Improve the Experience: Support company-wide initiatives aimed at making operations more efficient and improving the final customer experience. Requirements: Experienced Leader: You have at least 5 years of senior leadership experience in an MRO, heavy maintenance, or a similar aviation environment. Regulated Savvy: You are comfortable and experienced working within regulated environments like Transport Canada or the FAA. Team Builder: You have a proven track record of managing both leaders and frontline staff, with a focus on coaching and trust. Problem Solver: You have a strong execution mindset and the analytical skills to fix operational issues as they arise. Great Communicator: You can handle difficult conversations with professionalism and have the influence to align different departments toward a common goal. Educated: You ideally hold a degree or diploma in Aviation, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
