The Day Camp Team Leader is responsible to provide guidance and supervision to the staff in their planning, delivery and supervision of Day Camp participants; ensures high quality lessons and programs are being delivered in compliance with HIGH FIVE® standards, the Health and Safety Regulations; and Municipal Policies and procedures. Benefits and Perks Optional OMERS Pension Plan from the date of hire Work‑life Balance Initiatives Wellness, Social and Staff Ambassador Committees Employee and Family Assistance Plan Perks and Savings Partnerships Compensation and Work Term $18.54 to $20.11 per hourMay to August Qualifications Currently enrolled in or completed education in a related field, i.e. Recreation, Child and Youth studies preferred Standard First Aid, CPR “C” with AED; or willing to obtain Experience working with children and youth; HIGH FIVE ®: Principles of Healthy Child Development and Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) or willing to obtain Previous experience with the day camp program preferred Valid and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check Able to commit to the full term of employment and be available Monday to Friday From 7:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m Mandatory staff training will take place on evenings and weekends prior to the start of summer camp Responsibilities Develop and oversee lesson plans for assigned camp, centered around a theme or activity; shall research any themes that may be unfamiliar to develop knowledge base and material to deliver; shall implement programs, organize and supervise all activities Lead the camp staff in a positive and professional manner in the delivery of the program and supervision of the participants, ensuring the safety of all participants Role model enthusiasm and active supervision as well as creating an inclusive environment for all campers, staff and volunteers Create an educational, safe and inviting experience for all participants; incorporate the principles of HIGH FIVE ® regarding healthy child development, be aware of and work with individuals with disabilities and behaviour considerations and report any difficult behaviour to the Recreation Coordinator/Inclusionstaff Comply with the Child Guidance and Child Abuse Policies Assist with the facilitation of staff training Ensure Day Camp Counselors and volunteers, develop and maintain positive relationships with participants and are engaged and interacting with participants at all times Assist in the guidance and supervision of volunteers Assist Senior Team Leader and Recreation Coordinator with the evaluation of staff and Volunteers, providing coaching and mentorship Act as the liaison between the parent, child and Recreation Coordinator and Senior Teamer Lead including assisting with weekly camper phone calls to parents and guardians. Resolve conflicts in a swift and professional manner, taking into consideration operations, procedures and customer service standards Ability to swim and assist campers in the water is required Respond to first aid situations and document incidents Advise the Senior Team Leader and Recreation Coordinator of any problems related to equipment, programs or public inquiries Adhere to high standards of ethical behaviour and demonstrate his/her understanding that his/her personal actions impact the public’s perception of the Municipality Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator, Supervisor or Recreation and Culture or designate Submit an Application Please submit your cover letter and resume online at or before Monday March 30, 2026 Interviews and selection may occur before the closing.
