Teledyne DALSA (TD) collabore avec l’Université de Sherbrooke pour repousser les performances des caméras infrarouges en concevant une nouvelle génération de couches minces et en concevant des procédés pour les mettre en œuvre. Ces matériaux doivent entre autres démontrer une forte sensibilité de leur résistance électrique à la température, tout en étant stables et manufacturables à grande échelle. L'objectif de ce projet est de comprendre l’évolution de la microstructure et la composition des couches minces lors des étapes de fabrication. Il s’agira d’analyser les films par microscopie électronique en transmission (MÉT) et par les techniques de microanalyse permettant de caractériser la structure et la nature de ces matériaux à l’échelle atomique. La personne retenue devra développer les procédés de synthèse des couches minces, les protocoles de caractérisation par MÉT, quantifier les différentes structures des films produits et modéliser la cinétique de transformation des films. Il sera possible de capturer l’évolution de la microstructure en temps réel à partir de technologies permettant l’observation MÉT in situ. À terme, il s’agira de comprendre la relation entre les paramètres du procédé et la microstructure afin de maximiser les performances des films minces pour l’application des microbolomètres. Deux thèses seront encadrées par les Prs Nadi Braidy et Luc Fréchette de l’UdeS, experts en nanomatériaux et microsystèmes électromécaniques (MEMS). Les travaux seront réalisés à l'Institut interdisciplinaire d'innovation technologique (3IT) de l'UdeS dans le nouveau laboratoire de MÉT, au Centre de Collaboration MiQro Innovation (C2MI) et à l’usine de TD à Bromont.
