The Regional Addictions Specialist will bring advanced expertise in addictions and substance use to develop and implement community‑driven initiatives across First Nations communities, collaborating closely with communities and Nations and the Mental Wellness Team. Key Details Title: Regional Addictions Specialist Salary: $88,948 - $104,644 - $120,341 per year (pay range explained below) Contract: 6-month term Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am‑3pm, Mon‑Fri) Location: Fraser Salish Region, BC – ancestral territories of the Stó:lo Nations, hybrid working option available About the Role As Regional Addictions Specialist you will support the development and implementation of community‑driven initiatives across First Nations communities. You will co‑create and execute effective addiction action plans aligned with FNHA’s program goals, continuously monitor and evaluate response strategies, and provide guidance on prevention and follow‑up efforts. Working closely with the Mental Wellness Team, you will ensure a holistic and culturally grounded approach to care. Qualifications – Education and Certifications A university degree in Public Health, Allied Health, Behavioural or Social Sciences, Clinical Psychology, or a relevant field. Updated registration and good standing with a professional regulatory body in the health field. Qualifications – Experience 5‑7 years of recent and relevant experience in a mental health and substance use environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in regional health authority systems and services. Experience working with First Nations individuals, communities and/or organizations in health and wellness areas. Qualifications – Knowledge Strong understanding of holistic health, encompassing mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well‑being. In‑depth knowledge of addictions best practices, including prevention, intervention and post‑vention. Familiarity with trauma‑informed approaches and the unique impacts of colonization on Indigenous peoples in Canada. Experience with community engagement, development processes and culturally safe assessment techniques. Awareness of the diverse First Nations communities across British Columbia and their distinct needs.
