The Northern Institute of Social Justice (NISJ) at Yukon University invites applications for a Program Coordinator (Mid-Level) to help shape and deliver innovative, culturally relevant training that addresses pressing social justice issues across the Yukon and northern regions. About NISJ Founded in 2010, the NISJ is a recognized leader in northern-focused social justice training. We develop and deliver short training courses and awareness sessions tailored for: Frontline and other workers across public, private, and non-government sectors, Members of quasi-judicial boards and tribunals, and Members of the general public who have a personal or professional interest in social justice topics. The NISJ works with subject-matter experts who have northern knowledge and experience; and partners with national training organizations, like the Crisis and Trauma Resource Institute (CTRI). The NISJ focuses on delivering practical training that is grounded in northern realities, cultural diversity, and is relevant to frontline work. Working closely with instructors from the public, private and non-profit sectors; partner training organizations, and learners, you will help ensure that NISJ’s courses remain responsive, relevant, and rooted in the unique values and challenges of the North. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate development and delivery of training programs and awareness sessions Liaise with instructors, curriculum developers, and external partners Support recruitment, registration, and learner engagement processes Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements Ensure alignment with NISJ’s mission, principles, and Yukon University’s strategic priorities What We’re Looking For Required: Experience in program coordination or project management (preferably in education, training, or community development) Education and experience in social work, criminology, political science, or other social science Strong organizational and written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders Understanding of Yukon and northern contexts, or a demonstrated willingness to learn. Assets: Experience working in or with First Nations, governments, NGOs, or community organizations Familiarity with adult education or training environments Knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed or culturally responsive practices.
