Aecon Utilities is ready to become Canada’s #1 utility construction provider and we’re looking for a Project Administrator to help us get there The Procurement Team Lead, reporting to the Manager Procurement will be responsible for overseeing their procurement team to ensure timely, cost‑effective, and quality sourcing of goods and services. This role involves managing supplier relationships and ensuring compliance with company policies. The Team Lead acts as a bridge between procurement operations and strategic sourcing initiatives. What You’ll Do Here Supervise and mentor procurement team members, providing guidance and performance feedback. Allocate workload and ensure adherence to deadlines and KPIs. Oversee purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier onboarding processes. Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with relevant departments to avoid stockouts or overstocking. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions. Evaluate supplier performance and address issues proactively. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement. Support strategic sourcing initiatives and category management. Ensure adherence to legal, ethical, and sustainability standards in procurement practices. Mitigate supply chain risks through contingency planning. Prepare and present procurement reports, including spend analysis and supplier performance metrics. What You Bring To The Team 5+ years of procurement experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Strong leadership and clear, effective communication skills. Proficiency with procurement tools, ERP systems, and related technologies. Solid understanding of procurement regulations, policies, and industry best practices. Strategic and analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
