Human Resources Business Partner

In this role, you will be a trusted partner and strategic advisor—leveraging relationships across all levels of the organization to deliver effective HR solutions that support business goals and foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture. Responsibilities Serve as a trusted advisor, providing day-to-day coaching and strategic consultation to leaders at all levels on labour relations, talent management, organizational design, and policy interpretation. Lead and support positive labour relations by participating in the negotiation, administration, and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements. Manage and resolve employee grievances and workplace disputes effectively and in alignment with labour law and organizational policy. Play a central role in shaping and executing labour relations strategies that promote trust, accountability, and employee engagement. Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to design and implement people strategies that support organizational goals. Continuously identify opportunities to enhance service delivery through streamlined or automated HR processes. Act as the internal subject matter expert in labour relations, delivering training and guidance to leaders and supervisors on collective agreement interpretation and best practices in managing unionized environments. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related discipline. 7+ years of experience in Human Resources in a unionized environment. Working knowledge of collective agreements is required. Previous experience participating in collective bargaining. In-depth working knowledge of HR related legislation, including but not limited to the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA); Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), Ontario Labour Relations Act (OLRA) etc. Team player with excellent leadership skills, able to motivate others, negotiate effectively, and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders. Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential. Ability to build strong business acumen and apply this knowledge when making recommendations. Proven ability to handle confidential and contentious issues. Demonstrated competency in several aspects of HR (i.e. succession planning, performance management, labour relations, coaching).
