Primary Purpose
The mandate of the Manager, Work Integrated Learning, in collaboration with the Associate Deans and Executive Director of Community Engagement, is to expand the range of experiential and work-integrated learning opportunities for UNF students. Working closely with Faculty across all programs, the primary responsibility of the Manager, Work Integrated Learning will be to develop and maintain a network of community and industry partners to build institutional capacity and support the UNF community in a range of WIL/Experiential Learning initiatives. The goal is to support students' successful transition to career or graduate studies through the development of transferable skills.
Specific Responsibilities :
The Work Integrated Learning Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Develop and support a network of community and industry partners to engage with university students and program participants in experiential learning
- Lead the implementation systems and maintain a database of community partnerships related to work integrated learning and act as a resource to support faculty
- Maintain regular contact with employer partners to provide support and assist in navigating any challenges
- Liaise with external stakeholders to gather and disseminate relevant labour market information
- Identify, implement and facilitate student experiential and work-integrated learning placements for academic programs including the development of a work plan with learning outcomes or developmental threshold
- Provide resources and assist students by coaching, guiding, and finding best-fit placements
- Raise awareness, alongside Associate Deans, of the benefits of experiential learning – connecting theory and practice – for students, employers, educators, and community
- Develop, implement and maintain a quality assurance framework, institutional metrics, and reporting measures
- Lead the development and implementation of university policies related to experiential and work-integrated learning
- Identify risks associated with WIL and develop structures to mitigate risks while maintaining the reputation of the institution
- Lead initiatives that will grow, develop and maintain the reputation of the institution
- Source and monitor grant-funded opportunities for students and assist in coordination and management of such projects
Position Requirements :
To be successful in the Work Integrated Learning Coordinator role, an individual must possess, and be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience:
- A relevant undergraduate degree with demonstrated experience in project management
- 3-5 years of experience in a partnership development, recruitment or hiring environment with knowledge of employability skills
- 2-3 years of people leadership experience
- Demonstrated initiative in developing relationships with community members to encourage engagement with UNF students
- Demonstrated ability in employing intercultural competencies, diplomacy and tact
- Experience working in an educational or similar setting with international students, EAL speakers, and people with disabilities and an enjoyment of working with both individuals and within a team to meet goals
- Excellent communication skills to ensure clear expectations, roles, and responsibilities and to maintain positive relationships among and between internal and external stakeholders
- A high level of professionalism and ability to quickly assess situations and make evidence-based judgements to benefit student and relationships with employer-partners
- Experience with policy development and implementation
- Knowledge of labour and market trends and marketing and social media best practices
