Exceptional Customer Service: Greet visitors, provide accurate, concise, and relevant information (in-person, phone, email) on activities, facilities, programs, safety, and regulations. Issue Management: Professionally handle and resolve customer concerns, complaints, and feedback, escalating to supervisors, maintenance, or park rangers when required. Park Expertise: Share detailed and accurate knowledge of all park areas, natural/cultural history, programs, and conditions (trails, weather, etc.). Operational Support: Assist with park operations as requested (e.g., light cleaning of shower buildings or removal of campsite garbage; assisting with program set-up/teardown). Administrative Tasks: Record and report statistics as directed. Identify and report issues with reservation systems, tills, park facilities, equipment, and supplies. Assist with distributing information (posters, brochures, maps). Record and report safety, compliance, accident, or wildlife occurrences. Safety & Training: Complete all required training and follow Government of Alberta and site procedures. Specific Role Duties Information Officer (AS2) Registration & Payments: Utilize the shop.albertaparks.ca system for camper/program registration, check‑ins, check‑outs, processing changes, and payments/refunds. Retail Operations: Use ASPIRA software for cash register/POS operations for retail sales (firewood, ice, souvenirs, rentals, etc.). Cash Handling: Ensure daily floats and cash‑outs are accurate and balanced. Facility Monitoring: Monitor building security, complete opening/closing procedures, and perform maintenance inspections for facility safety and cleanliness. Inventory & Tidiness: Assist with inventory control, restocking merchandise and brochures, general tidying, assisting other departments when needed, and reporting low stock. Lead Information Officer (AS3) Assists with and performs all AS2 duties, with added responsibility of front-line administration and supervision. Staff Support & Training: Provide ongoing support, regular check‑ins, and one‑on‑one training for AS2 Information Officers. Performance Input: Assist with input for seasonal performance reviews and set clear expectations for decision-making. Inventory Ordering: Place orders for booth and store inventory to ensure adequate supplies before busy periods. Financial Support: Provide support for cash and revenue reconciliation. Knowledge Management: Ensure staff maintain and improve their knowledge regarding park information, services, regulations, and safety issues. Compliance: Ensure staff complete all mandatory Government of Alberta online courses and SiteDocs training/inspections. Feedback: Assist supervisors with providing performance feedback for Performance Agreements. Qualifications Required: Information Officer (Administrative Support 2): High school Diploma. Preference for experience with point of sales machines, retail, cash handling and/or customer service. Equivalency: Directly related experience considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education. Lead Information Officer (Administrative Support 3): High School Diploma. One year of combined customer service and supervisory/leadership experience. Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education OR one year of education for one year of experience. Additional requirements: Certification: Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR Level C + AED. Background: Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check. Driver's License: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent) and a current 3-year Driver’s Abstract (with less than 6 demerits), except for the Dinosaur Provincial Park Visitor Centre. Assets (Skills & Experience) Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, problem-solving, conflict resolution, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure, independently, and in a team setting. Experience in retail operations (cash/POS payment processing, till balancing, inventory). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer programs. Previous experience in Parks or the Tourism Industry. Knowledge of local tourism, amenities, cultural/natural history, flora, and fauna. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to speak other languages in addition to the English language. A strong affinity for parks, the outdoors, camping, and nature. Terms of Employment Seasonal Wage Opportunities: Contracts run from April/May to September/October 2026. Exact term depends on location and operational needs. Availability: All positions require scheduled work during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Vacation: Requests will be considered but not guaranteed.
