Parks Information Officers and Lead Information Officer Job Information Job Title: Parks Information Officers and Lead Information Officer Job Requisition ID: 78405 Ministry: Forestry and Parks Location: Slave Lake District, North Region: Marten River Campground, Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park, Hilliard’s Bay Campground, Hilliard’s Bay Provincial Park Full or Part-Time: Full-Time Hours of Work: 40 hours per week Permanent/Temporary: Temporary – Wage, Seasonal Scope: Open Competition Closing Date: Open Until Suitable Candidate Found Classification: Administrative Support 2 (AS2) / Administrative Support 3 (AS3) Salary: Administrative Support 2 (AS2) 40 hrs/ week: $23.79 – $26.76 per hour Administrative Support 3 (AS3) 40 hrs/ week: $23.28 – $29.46 per hour Benefits: 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave 5.6% of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays 6% of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay Shift premium pay: $3.25 per hour for weekends/holidays; $2.75 per hour for evenings Information Officer (AS2) Responsibilities Administrative Duties: Record safety, accident, wildlife occurrences; maintain lost and found records. Assist in distribution of information materials. Maintain knowledge of recreational and tourist opportunities to respond to inquiries. Business Operations: Use AspiraOne to register campers, process changes, cancellations, check‑outs, payments. Operate cash register, point‑of‑sale machine; ensure accurate cash balances. Maintain building security, opening/closing procedures, facility cleanliness. Conduct retail sales of concession items, firewood, rentals. Manage inventory and restock merchandise. Reconcile daily revenue and record in Excel. Customer Service & Communication: Greet and welcome visitors; provide accurate, concise information on park facilities, services, and regulations. Handle customer complaints, emergencies, and referrals appropriately. Collaborate with park programs and other staff (Rangers, Conservation Officers, Maintenance). Identify and report system or equipment issues. Develop detailed knowledge of park areas and programs. Lead Information Officer (AS3) Responsibilities Administrative & Supervisory Tasks: Coordinate day‑to‑day tasks of IO team; ensure procedures followed. Support IOs via check‑ins, training, performance reviews. Coordinate IO schedules. Place inventory orders for booth and store. Support distribution of information materials. Manage revenue tracking, reconciliation, and reporting. Leadership: Communicate effectively with visitors and staff. \Provide front‑line customer service and leadership. Assist in troubleshooting, cash handling, inventory control. Qualifications Information Officer (AS2): High school diploma. One year of experience per year of education for equivalency. English language proficiency. Available for weekend and evening shifts during season. Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence. Criminal Record Check. Standard First Aid & CPR certification. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office). Lead Information Officer (AS3): High school diploma and one year retail, supervisory, or leadership experience. Equivalency as above. English language proficiency. Available for weekend and evening shifts occasionally. Strong computer skills. Standard First Aid & CPR Level C/AED Certificate. Valid Alberta Class 5 licence and minimum 3‑year driver's abstract. Criminal Record Check. Experience with Shop.AlbertaParks.ca, AspiraOne (asset). Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
