Director of Finance – Civil and Infrastructure We are looking for a Director of Finance to lead financial oversight for Bird’s Civil and Infrastructure Business Unit for Eastern Canada. The role is primarily in‑office based out of Ajax (ON), Mississauga (ON) or Montreal (QC). Roles and Responsibilities Lead, coach, and mentor a divisional finance team; ensure high performance and succession planning. Act as a proactive business partner leadership, providing financial guidance for unpredictable challenges. Collaborate with stakeholders to support project pursuits, planning, and execution. Monitor project‑level financial performance: revenue recognition, cost tracking, margin analysis, claims/disputes, and cash flow. Develop operational budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for projects, overhead, and divisions. Provide actionable insights to improve profitability and mitigate financial risks. Support mid‑term ERP conversion and process alignment for one division. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and external audit requirements. Manage the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual executive reporting. Support the development and implementation of financial systems and processes to improve efficiency. Ad‑hoc financial assignments and projects as required. Qualifications CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional designation. University degree in Finance or Accounting. 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a management role within construction, infrastructure, or related industries. Strong understanding of project accounting and cost control; experience with construction major projects is an asset. Experience working in a public company and/or IFRS accounting standards an asset. Strategic thinker with strong business acumen. Ability to build relationships, influence, and collaborate across a growing national organization. Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentations, with all levels of the organization. Strong understanding of construction contracts and delivery models including IPD and Alliance, ideally having worked with external Joint Ventures. Ability to manage a large volume of work, consistently meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
