Reporting to the CEO of MaRS, the Managing Director provides strategic and operational leadership for IAF, shaping investment direction, managing fund deployment, and ensuring high performance across the portfolio. This executive will serve as IAF’s primary external voice—building relationships with founders, co‑investors, and government stakeholders while representing the Fund across provincial and industry forums. Internally, the Managing Director will lead a seasoned investment team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration, and will hold fiduciary responsibility for governance and financial oversight. The ideal candidate is a proven investment leader with experience overseeing early‑stage venture portfolios, setting strategic direction, and guiding teams through dynamic and complex environments. They bring a deep understanding of technology and financial markets, strong analytical capability, and a passion for supporting transformative innovation. Equally comfortable engaging private investors and ecosystem stakeholders, this leader combines entrepreneurial agility with public‑minded stewardship.
