In this role, you will lead a team of Relationship Managers, driving growth and delivering tailored financial solutions to mid‑sized businesses across diversified industries and the agriculture sector. You will be responsible for setting strategic direction, coaching and developing your team, and ensuring exceptional client experiences while managing risk and profitability. Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership by guiding, coaching, and developing a high‑performing team of Relationship Managers. Elevate the bank’s visibility and reputation across the Prairies through proactive community involvement and industry engagement. Drive new client acquisition and deepen existing relationships to deliver sustainable growth and achieve business targets. Oversee credit quality across the portfolio, ensuring robust underwriting practices, effective risk identification, and strict adherence to governance standards. Champion disciplined execution of the sales process, including pipeline management, performance tracking, and accountability for results. Partner with internal teams to enhance client solutions, strengthen relationships, and capture additional share‑of‑wallet opportunities. Analyze credit information to support lending decisions and processes for new and existing commercial banking loans and credit solutions in an assigned portfolio of clients. Negotiate loan structures and terms that align client requirements with the bank risk appetite and policies. Develop comprehensive credit structures to meet the transactional needs of more complex clients. Sign off on new, renewal, and extension loans within delegated authority. Conduct comprehensive portfolio monitoring including covenant compliance to identify deteriorating credit conditions. Analyze industry trends to identify risks and opportunities. Evaluate portfolio performance and recommend capital allocation strategies that optimize returns with investment objectives. Handle escalated client concerns and service requests, ensuring expectations are consistently met or exceeded. Lead complex proposal development and deliver presentations to capture new business and expand client relationships. Engage with industry peers and networks to gather competitive insights and best practices, applying this knowledge to maintain a competitive edge. Build and maintain client relationships to ensure long‑term financial performance in collaboration with Relationship Managers and business partners. Structure and support new, renewal, and extension loans aligned with client needs and bank & risk policies. Conduct financial analysis and risk assessments of clients’ credit information for an assigned portfolio, providing insights to inform decisions. Monitor portfolio performance for assigned commercial banking clients on an ongoing basis, taking corrective action when required. Minimize bank risk exposure by adhering to credit policies, regulatory standards, and operational guidelines. Serve as a point of contact for service requests, ensuring consistent delivery and escalating issues when needed. Support and implement initiatives to enhance service quality, acquire new business and expand client relationships. Identify revenue and cross‑selling opportunities to enhance portfolio growth. Identify share of wallet opportunities. Leverage analysis tools to nurture and grow a portfolio that exceeds ROE thresholds and evaluates client returns on a proactive basis. Manage timely and accurate data entry into the bank’s systems and leverage data to support decision‑making. Foster a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role model BMO values and behaviours in all that they do. Ensure alignment between values and behaviour that fosters diversity and inclusion. Regularly connect work to BMO’s purpose, set inspirational goals, define clear expected outcomes, and ensure clear accountability for follow‑through. Operate at a group/enterprise‑wide level and serve as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders. Apply expertise and think creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and find solutions to complex and non‑routine problems. Implement changes in response to shifting trends. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Qualifications Preferred 7+ years of relevant experience in credit or lending instruments or financial operations in a corporate or banking environment. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Business Administration, Finance and Accounting preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered. If a Credit Qualifiable job, Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the credit portfolio requirements and qualification standards. Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position. BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
