Director, DTC Performance Marketing, Ecommerce

Role summary This role owns performance media strategy and execution for ecommerce/DTC brands . You are accountable for results across Meta, Google, and supporting paid channels, as well as the creative testing system that drives growth. This is not a client-facing-only role and not a high-level oversight role. This is a hands-on director role with real ownership. You will both operate and lead. If you prefer long planning cycles, heavy consensus, or purely managerial work, this role will feel uncomfortable by design. Performance ownership and execution Own performance outcomes for ecommerce accounts across paid social and paid search Actively operate inside ad accounts, not just review them Drive structure changes, budget shifts, and optimization decisions continuously Be accountable for revenue, efficiency, and scale, not activity Creative and growth leadership Own the creative testing strategy in partnership with the Creative Director Translate performance data into clear creative direction and testing priorities Push teams to increase creative volume, quality, and speed Kill underperforming concepts quickly and scale winners decisively Decision-making and autonomy Make independent decisions without waiting for consensus Prioritize speed, clarity, and outcomes over perfection Know when to test, when to double down, and when to cut Team leadership and accountability Lead and QA ecommerce media buyers and junior team members Set clear performance standards and expectations Identify underperformance quickly and act on it Raise the bar across strategy, execution, and thinking Client clarity and communication Clearly articulate what’s working, what’s not, and what happens next Present insights and decisions with confidence and logic Avoid vanity reporting - insight only if it drives action What you will not do You will not operate as a passive account overseer You will not hide behind decks or dashboards You will not allow low creative or execution standards to persist You will not spend your time in unnecessary meetings How success is measured Revenue and efficiency improvement over time (ROAS, CPA, MER) Speed and quality of execution and iteration Strength of decisions under ambiguity Creative testing velocity and learning clarity Performance and reliability of the team you lead Talking about strategy does not count as strategy. Ideal background This role is suited for someone who has deep hands-on experience running ecommerce performance media, strong familiarity with Meta Ads and Google Ads for DTC brands, experience scaling ecommerce accounts with real revenue responsibility, and comfort operating in fast-moving environments such as agencies, startups, or founder-led brands. Experience at large companies is fine only if you remained hands-on.
