Director of Facilities and Operations Ontario Convention Center Join to apply for the Director of Facilities and Operations Ontario Convention Center role at ASM Global . Position Summary Responsible for the daily activities required to run, maintain, and service the facility and events by leading operations, maintenance, vendor negotiations, budgeting, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Essential Functions Directs and supervises all aspects of operations and personnel across operations, engineering, building maintenance, housekeeping, grounds maintenance, security, parking, IT, and compliance. Oversees maintenance of electrical, mechanical, IT infrastructure, environmental control, and related systems. Negotiates with vendors, contractors, and service providers and prepares technical plans and specifications. Maintains SMG maintenance program with preventative maintenance and work orders aligned with facility maintenance standards. Procures services, repairs and supplies through bid and negotiated processes and coordinates special projects such as construction, remodeling or expansion. Plans and directs outside vendor work to assure contract compliance and safety requirements. Coordinates operations activities with other departments and event contractors to assure facility readiness and smooth event operation. Assists in operating budget preparation and recommends capital budgets and long‑range repairs and improvements. Authorizes requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines. Ensures laws, codes, policies, risk management, safety precautions, rules, regulations and emergency procedures are followed and develops training programs for employees as needed. Determines staffing requirements, interviews, hires and trains new employees or oversees those personnel processes including technical services, parking, security, electrical, carpentry, welding, masonry, painting, plumbing, and maintenance activities. Prepares reports on assigned maintenance operations and activities as needed and provides yearly inventory of all equipment. Investigates, analyzes and resolves operational problems and complaints and conducts periodic staff meetings to discuss procedures, problems and policy changes. Works closely with the General Manager in the preparation and negotiation of service agreements, reviews contracts for compliance with events and government specifications and serves as liaison to public utility, environmental and energy agencies. Assists the General Manager in implementation of energy‑saving guidelines and serves as Manager on Duty as required. Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager. Supervisory Responsibilities Manages subordinate managers and supervisors in Housekeeping, Operations, Engineering, Security, Parking, Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers, and Technical Services. Conducts interview, hiring, training, performance appraisal, discipline and employee relations in accordance with policies, laws and Human Resources. Experience, Training and Education Required: High School Diploma. Six years supervisory experience in operations of large public assembly, hotel or commercial facility. Desired: Bachelor’s degree in facility management, engineering or related field. License and Certificate Valid California Driver’s License. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Business English, Math and excellent organizational skills. Wireless technology applications and interface availability. Microsoft Office applications and operating systems including network security and access. Operating principles of HVAC, fire systems, sprinkler protection systems, indoor air quality, fire, security alarms, escalators and elevator operation. Communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, peers and the public. Detail oriented; operate modern office equipment and essential software (Word, Excel, E‑mail). Operate a motor vehicle. Physical and Environmental Requirements Requires sitting and working on the computer for most of the workday; some walking, stooping, bending and lifting may occasionally be required.
