Senior Event Manager – Ontario Convention Center Position Title: Senior Event Manager Department: Event Services Reports To: Director of Event Services Classification: Salaried, Exempt Compensation: Yearly Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000 (based on experience) Company Overview: Legends Global is the premier partner to the world’s greatest live events, venues, and brands. Position Summary: Under limited supervision, leads, coordinates, and oversees the scheduling and coordination of events at the OCC and provides support and assistance to the Director of Event Services. Essential Functions Act as liaison between clients and operating departments, providing planning and logistical information. Ensure successful events at the OCC through supervision and training of Event Managers. Schedule staff to ensure all events are professionally coordinated. Provide written communications to all facility departments. Ensure that tenant plans and requests comply with state, city and county rules and regulations. Collect and verify information from service contractors, including scheduling of event space, facility decorating, early move‑ins or over‑stays, exhibits, use of parking facilities, event set‑up, and location of equipment during and between events. Supervise event operations during tenant occupancy, maintaining contact with tenants to confirm successful delivery. Administer, monitor, and enforce facility policies and safety regulations during event operations. Participate in development and administration of the annual budget by providing feedback to the department director. Review and approve final billings following completion of assigned events. Advise, negotiate, and monitor costs and account for tenants. Respond to customer and guest inquiries and resolve difficult and sensitive complaints. Experience / Training / Education Required: High School Diploma or GED. Four to five years of management‑level experience coordinating events in a multi‑purpose facility servicing conventions, exhibits, trade and consumer shows, athletic events, concerts, sales meetings, food and beverage functions, etc., including training and managing others. License / Certificate Valid California Driver’s License. Knowledge / Abilities / Skills Knowledge of Convention, trade show, and entertainment terminology and procedures. Audio‑visual and electrical equipment and its uses. Laws and regulations pertaining to public assembly facilities. Principles and procedures for crowd control, security, set‑up and take‑down of events, special lighting, booth wiring, compressed air usage, basic accounting, budget preparation, facility management, supervision, training, and performance evaluation. Ability to Communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing. Read and interpret blueprints. Identify discrepancies between tenant needs and the capabilities of the facility. Solve problems with tenants and/or employees effectively. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with tenants, employees, peers, and the public. Skill to Operate modern office equipment, including computer, fax, phone, and copy machine. Operate motor vehicle. Physical and Environmental Requirements Tasks performed with moderate supervision without assistance for 40% of the workday; pushing and pulling doors open, lifting, stooping, bending and lifting at least 50 lbs. Walking for long distances for more than 50% of workday. May require work inside or outside building as needed by events. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, and may be scheduled until 12:00 am or later. Must be able to pass background check.
