Job Title: Design Engineer – S&T (Signaling & Telecommunication) Department: Design – Railway Projects Location: Head Office Experience: 2–6 Years Qualification: Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Electronics / Electrical / ECE / Instrumentation Reporting To: S&T Design Lead / Project Design Manager Job Summary The Design Engineer – S&T is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and modifying signaling and telecommunication (S&T) design drawings and documentation for railway infrastructure projects. The role demands a solid understanding of railway signaling systems, design standards (RDSO/IR), and proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting technical layouts and wiring diagrams. Roles And Responsibilities Develop detailed design drawings for signaling and telecom systems (panel interlocking, EI layouts, cable routing, circuit diagrams, etc.). Prepare and modify AutoCAD-based wiring diagrams, location box diagrams, route plans, and cable core charts. Ensure all drawings and designs are compliant with Indian Railways/RDSO/CORE standards. Coordinate with project engineers, site teams, and client representatives to gather inputs and incorporate field changes. Support in preparing technical submittals, BOQs, and design reports. Review and incorporate comments from client/consultants on submitted drawings. Maintain version control and drawing documentation as per project quality systems. Provide design-related assistance during testing, inspection, and commissioning stages. Conduct cross-functional coordination with civil and electrical teams to ensure interface clarity. Participate in design review meetings and internal quality audits. Qualifications Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, ECE, or Instrumentation Engineering. 2–6 years of experience in railway S&T design works. Hands‑on experience in AutoCAD (2D mandatory; 3D optional) for design and drafting. Knowledge of RDSO/IR specifications, interlocking principles, and railway signaling schemes. Experience with projects under RVNL, DFCCIL, IRCON, or similar agencies is preferred. Key Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD and other drafting/design tools. Strong understanding of railway signaling principles and telecom systems. Ability to interpret technical drawings, relay circuits, and S&T layouts. Knowledge of applicable RDSO/Indian Railways standards . Accuracy in drafting and attention to detail. Good communication skills and team collaboration. Documentation and version control practices.
