This role ensures that quality engineering principles are proactively embedded into design and manufacturing processes to achieve zero-defect performance and long-term customer satisfaction. Accountable for QE inputs into the design and development of quality into new product and process, ensuring alignment with customer and industry requirementsUtilize data-driven analysis for zero-defect initiatives, establishing ownership with QE team members, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for defect reduction within product sustainmentAccountable for QE inputs into engineering change for impact on quality control processes, inspection standards, and risk mitigation plans.Oversee systemic trend and escape 8D root cause and corrective action (RCCA) to ensure permanent solutions and prevent recurrence. Support QE execution of Design for Quality (DfQ) and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) as proactive risk management tools Drive the improvement to our quality systems through supporting the implementation of the L3Harris Operational Excellence framework. Align the necessary resources as the quarterback for emerging quality issues, coordinating rapid cross-functional collaboration and executive communication. Develop and maintain quality metric dashboards that support accountability, management review, and continuous improvement. Lead, mentor, and develop the quality engineering team to strengthen technical capability, assertiveness, and facilitation skillsRepresent the Quality function in New Product Design reviews, readiness reviews, and risk assessmentsChampion a culture of prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement for quality across the organization. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, or related technical discipline; equivalent experience in aerospace quality will be considered3-5 years of experience managing a team of quality engineers in an aerospace or high-reliability manufacturing environmentASQ Certification (ex. CQE, CMQ/OE, or equivalent)Certification or demonstrated expertise in AS9100D Quality Management System standardsLean Six Sigma Certification considered an assetProject Management Certification considered an assetProven record of implementing robust RCCA, FMEA, and advanced quality planning toolsDemonstrated success in achieving measurable reductions in defects, escapes, and cost of poor quality. Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances and controlled goods programPreferred Additional SkillsExperience reporting to senior leadership and representing quality performance in management reviewsProject management experience including leading cross-functional initiatives and managing deliverables to schedule and budgetStrong communication and influencing skills, capable of leading diverse technical teams and driving consensusFamiliarity with digital quality tools (SPC, Power Bi, Minitab, etc)Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, P/DFMEA processes in aerospace or defense sectors.
