Automation Process Specialist

Position Overview Location: Ancaster, Ontario (onsite) Travel: Occasional travel to support implementation at other sites As our next Automation Process Specialist , you’ll lead the design, programming, and implementation of advanced automation systems. You’ll drive innovation, mentor technicians, and ensure high operational efficiency across manufacturing processes. Responsibilities Design and implement new automated systems aligned with operational goals. Write and debug complex automation programs. Develop long-term strategies for automation improvements. Mentor junior and intermediate technicians. Research and implement cost‑effective, innovative automation solutions. Lead the automation team and manage project resources. Conduct maintenance and preventive schedules to ensure >95% line availability. Drive continuous improvement to achieve >95% OEE. Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and JE’s safety and environmental policies. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Diploma in Automation Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related field. 5+ years of experience in automation systems design, programming, and implementation. Experience leading and mentoring technical teams. Bonus Points Proficiency in PLC, SCADA, Python, or similar automation programming tools. Strong understanding of automation architecture and system design principles. Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
