As a leader, the Shake Shack Area Manager takes a strategic and hands‑on approach to driving operational excellence and team development across multiple locations. Responsible for overseeing General Managers and supporting their growth, the Area Manager ensures consistent execution of brand standards, sales growth initiatives, and bottom‑line profitability. A true brand ambassador, this role inspires and empowers leadership teams by fostering an inclusive culture, maintaining exceptional guest experiences, and driving operational efficiencies through clear communication and thoughtful action planning. Job Description Drive a strong people‑first culture that reflects Shake Shack’s values of Enlightened Hospitality, inclusion, and excellence Work with the business team to develop strategic goals for the portfolio Design and implement the learning management system Develop the inventory management and food safety programs Help hire, onboard, train and develop Shack management Conduct regular Shack visits to assess standards, coach in real time, and model best‑in‑class leadership behaviours Ensure that both the restaurant operations and guest experience are aligned with our brand standards Manage all Restaurant managers and support their ongoing using data‑based feedback, coaching, best practices and in‑market training Review operating results to ensure restaurants are maximizing their potential Help launch new Shack openings and support future growth Partner cross‑functionally with Support Centre teams (HR, Facilities, Supply Chain, Marketing) to remove barriers and execute initiatives Ensure compliance with all health, safety, labour, and company policies while proactively mitigating risk Qualifications 5+ years of progressive multi‑unit leadership experience in the hospitality or quick‑service restaurant industry Proven track record of successfully managing operations, driving sales, and developing high‑performing teams across multiple locations Strong understanding of P&L management, budgeting, labour controls, and other key performance metrics Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to build and maintain a strong culture rooted in inclusion, accountability, and guest satisfaction Demonstrated success in coaching and mentoring General Managers and emerging leaders Experience leading through change and scaling operations in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment Proficient in using data and insights to inform business decisions Willingness and ability to travel regularly between store locations throughout Ontario, including for store openings, leadership support, and special initiatives as needed.
