Wellkin Child & Youth Mental Wellness is a community-based organization dedicated to delivering high-quality mental health services to children, youth, and families. The organization works collaboratively with community partners, funders, and government to ensure accessible, evidence-informed, and responsive care.
The Opportunity
Wellkin is seeking an experienced, values-driven Executive Director to lead the organization through a critical period of renewal, stabilization, and growth. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation, leadership, and management of the agency and for ensuring that all Board-approved policies, strategies, and plans are effectively implemented.
A central priority of this role is to rebuild the organization's reputation and restore trust—internally with staff and externally with unions, funders, community partners, government, and stakeholders—while advancing service excellence and organizational sustainability.
The Executive Director serves as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board of Directors and works closely with the Board to articulate and advance the agency's theoretical orientation, methodologies, goals, and long-term vision.
Key Priorities

- Strengthen labour relations and foster a respectful, collaborative workplace culture
- Lead and manage organizational change with transparency and accountability
- Advance and implement the organization's strategic and action plans
- Ensure high-quality, accountable, and sustainable service delivery
Core Responsibilities
Organizational & Administrative Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and management of Wellkin in alignment with Board direction
- Ensure all programs and services reflect best practices and current trends in child and youth mental health
- Identify and respond to community needs related to children's mental health services
- Lead the ongoing definition and refinement of the agency's purpose, priorities, and direction
- Develop and manage staff, financial, and physical resources to support organizational goals
- Supervise budgeting processes and monitor revenue and expenditures
- Provide the Board with timely information on sector trends, government directives, and policy implications
- Support Board policy development and long-range planning
- Attend and contribute to Board and Board Committee meetings as an ex-officio member
Service Delivery, Evaluation & Accountability
- Ensure implementation of Board policies related to service delivery
- Oversee quality assurance across all programs, including supervision, documentation, case management, and evaluation
- Ensure implementation of treatment services in alignment with the agency's Service Plan
- Establish and maintain effective systems for case, program, clinical, community, and financial evaluation
- Prepare and distribute regular reports to the Board on agency operations, projects, programs, and clinical activity
- Ensure preparation of an annual report for presentation at the Annual General Meeting
- Maintain information systems to document clinical, community, and financial activities
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism across all services
Community Relations, Advocacy & Reputation-Building
- Serve as the primary public representative and spokesperson for the organization
- Rebuild and strengthen relationships with community partners, government representatives, and funders
- Respond to and initiate public relations activities in alignment with Board-approved policies
- Advocate on behalf of the organization and the children and families it serves
- Represent Wellkin on relevant community, regional, and provincial committees
- Interpret community needs to staff and ensure services respond effectively
People Leadership, Labour Relations & Organizational Health
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to the management team and staff
- Establish expectations for professional development and approve training opportunities
- Recruit, support, and supervise consultants and volunteers
- Negotiate and administer collective agreements and maintain constructive labour relations
- Approve and oversee all personnel-related decisions
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Address complaints and grievances with professionalism, fairness, and consistency
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree or equivalent post-graduate training in Applied Behavioural Science, psychology, social work, or a related discipline
- Professional training in business, management, or organizational leadership with demonstrated clinical affinity
- Minimum of ten (10) years of senior leadership experience at both operational and strategic levels
- Experience working with a voluntary Board of Directors in a community-based or multidisciplinary setting
- Demonstrated expertise in project management and change management
- Experience working in a unionized environment, including collective bargaining
- Strong understanding of child, youth, and community mental health systems

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $130,000–$145,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
