We’re looking for a Motion Designer who can bring clarity, delight, and narrative to complex technical workflows. Someone who brings craft, curiosity, and systems thinking — and who loves exploring how motion and animation can make AI-powered experiences feel human, intuitive, and alive. Responsibilities Product Motion & Interaction Shape the motion layer across SaaS, desktop, marketing, and our Neo design system Design micro-interactions, transitions, and animated states that make complex dev workflows feel simple and fluid Create prototypes for AI interactions, dynamic states, queue activity, and system feedback Contribute motion patterns to the Neo Design System to ensure consistency across SaaS and Desktop Brand & Storytelling Build high-impact animations that explain complex concepts like multi-repo scalability, coding agents, code transformations, and modernization at scale Support launch videos, feature explainers, event visuals, onboarding experiences, and “unboxing” moments Use motion to communicate the magic of Moderne — from Moddy’s intelligence to our code transformation story Creative Systems & Collaboration Work hand-in-hand with product designers, engineers, and leadership to explore early concepts and bring them to life Translate motion into production-ready assets (Lottie/JSON, video, GIF, prototype sequences) Help define how motion integrates into our AI experiences, notifications, loading states, and product feedback loops Contribute to a culture of experimentation — exploring new tools, frameworks, and emerging tech Qualifications A motion designer or VFX artist with 7–10+ years of multidisciplinary experience across product, experiential media, creative agencies, or post-production Someone with a self-taught streak — curious, experimental, and excited to explore new techniques Strong in both product motion (micro-interactions, transitions, UX clarity) and brand motion (narrative, expressive sequences) Skilled at simplifying complex ideas through movement, pacing, and visual rhythm Comfortable collaborating with product, engineering, and design partners in a fast-moving startup Energized by shaping systems — not just one-off animations Nice to Have Familiarity with Lottie/JSON, real-time motion, or lightweight web-based animation techniques Experience building motion within design systems Knowledge of Figma + After Effects, Blender, Cinema4D, or similar tools Exposure to generative AI tools for motion or VFX Understanding of developer tools or technical storytelling (not required, but a plus) Why Moderne You’ll own the entire motion layer across SaaS, Desktop, DevCenter, Moddy, Docs, and Brand Huge opportunity to shape the visual identity of a fast-growing developer tools company Work closely with Design, Product, and Engineering leadership to bring the Moderne vision to life A low-ego, highly collaborative environment where quality matters and experimentation is encouraged Influence the evolution of the Neo Design System with motion guidelines, tokens, and patterns A chance to define what motion means in the future of AI-assisted code modernization Moderne is a developer-first platform that automates code remediation and modernization across large, complex codebases.
