From AI Agents to process automation, Symphona enables teams to easily deploy practical AI solutions that boost efficiency and productivity for both business and technical use cases. Learn more at Role Summary We are seeking a Senior GCP DevOps Engineer (SRE & Full-Stack) to own the reliability, scalability, and performance of the Symphona platform in production. You will: Design, operate, and improve our GCP-based infrastructure (Kubernetes, Memorystore, Kafka, and related services). Lead SRE/production operations: monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous reliability improvements for high-load systems. Contribute as a full-stack engineer, supporting backend services (Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Java) and React-based frontends when needed. Roughly 60-70% of your time will be focused on DevOps/SRE (infrastructure, reliability, operations) and 30-40% on full-stack development. Core stack: GCP (GKE, Memorystore, Kafka), Docker, IaC (Terraform/Helm), Node.js (TypeScript), Python, Java, React, REST, WebSockets. This role is remote within Canada with occasional in-person gatherings for team members located in the Greater Vancouver and Toronto regions. You will be a key owner of Symphona’s production environment—driving infrastructure improvements, triaging and fixing critical defects, and ensuring our customers experience a fast, secure, and reliable platform. Responsibilities DevOps & GCP Infrastructure Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including: GKE / Kubernetes clusters for microservices; Memorystore (Redis) for caching; Kafka-based messaging/streaming; supporting services (datastores, networking, IAM, etc.). Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support safe, automated, low/zero-downtime deployments. Use Infrastructure as Code to manage and version infrastructure. Implement and improve security controls, secrets management, network policies, and access management. Perform capacity planning and cost optimization while maintaining performance and reliability. Site Reliability & Production Operations Own the health and reliability of the Symphona production environment. Define and maintain SLOs/SLIs; implement meaningful metrics for latency, availability, and error rates. Set up and evolve monitoring, logging, and alerting with effective dashboards, alerts, and runbooks. Lead incident response and RCA: triage production issues, coordinate resolution, and drive follow-through on preventative improvements. Conduct performance tuning, load testing, and resilience improvements (e.g., graceful degradation, backpressure, retries, circuit breakers). Proactively identify reliability risks and drive initiatives to harden production systems. Participate in an on-call rotation with a reasonable schedule and clear escalation paths. Support and occasionally contribute to backend and frontend code for production issues and new features. Collaborate with the broader engineering team to ensure new functionality is deployable, observable, and reliable in production. Participate in architectural and design discussions with a focus on scalability, operability, and reliability. Contribute to and review technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures. Work closely with product, QA, support, and other stakeholders to plan and execute safe, high-quality releases. Help define and refine engineering best practices, coding standards, and operational guidelines. Qualifications 5+ years of full-time professional software engineering experience. Proven experience leading DevOps/SRE or production operations for high-load, customer-facing systems. Strong hands-on experience with at least two of: Node.js (TypeScript), Python, Java. Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform, especially Kubernetes (GKE or equivalent), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Helm or similar). Familiarity with Kafka (or equivalent messaging/streaming) and Redis/Memorystore for caching. Good understanding of microservices and distributed systems, including monitoring, logging, and incident response. Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills in an Agile, collaborative environment. Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident located in Canada. Nice to Have Exposure to AI/ML or generative AI workloads. Background in security hardening or compliance in cloud environments. Contributions to open-source projects or a strong personal portfolio. Located in Greater Vancouver or Toronto regions (for easier in-person collaboration). Who Will Thrive Here You enjoy owning production systems end-to-end—from infrastructure to application-level reliability. You are comfortable wearing multiple hats: DevOps engineer, SRE, and full-stack developer. You stay calm under pressure and can lead teams through incidents and recovery. You’re proactive about finding and fixing reliability gaps before they impact customers. You value asynchronous communication, direct feedback, and a high degree of autonomy. You’re willing to step in and support the platform, even outside standard hours when critical issues arise. Who Should Not Apply You only want to build features and are not interested in running production systems. You prefer rigid processes over iteration and continuous improvement. You’re uncomfortable with on-call responsibilities or incident response. You require highly stable, unchanging requirements and get frustrated by change. Compensation Base salary range: $100,000 – $135,000 CAD per year (based on experience and role fit). Performance-driven bonus program RRSP matching Ready to Join Us? If you’re excited about owning GCP infrastructure, driving SRE best practices, and contributing across the full stack of a modern AI platform, we’d like to hear from you. Apply today and help ensure Symphona is robust, scalable, and ready to power the next generation of AI-driven business efficiency. At SimplyAsk.ai, we value diversity, inclusivity, and a collaborative spirit. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. #J-18808-Ljbffr
