Permanent Full Time Chief of Psychiatry

Position Information Position Overview : Woodstock Hospital is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief of Psychiatry to lead our mental health services and drive excellence in psychiatric care. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for clinical oversight, strategic development, and quality improvement in psychiatric services. The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for mental health, with a strong focus on patient-centred care, staff engagement, and system-level collaboration. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy : Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Department of Psychiatry. Collaborate with hospital leadership to develop and implement mental health initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in psychiatric care. Clinical Oversight : Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care across inpatient and outpatient settings. Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to psychiatrists and interdisciplinary mental health teams. Participate in complex case reviews and provide direct clinical care as required. Quality & Performance Improvement : Lead quality assurance initiatives, ensuring compliance with professional standards, regulations, and accreditation requirements. Monitor and improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, and service effectiveness. Champion initiatives that address mental health equity, access, and patient satisfaction. Human Resources & Administration : Work collaboratively with the Senior Team. Recruit, retain, and evaluate psychiatrists and other mental health professionals. Support professional development and continuing education of staff. Collaborate with medical staff office and human resources on credentialing, performance reviews, and departmental planning. Represent department at Medical Advisory Committee and Medical Manpower Committee. Collaboration & Partnerships : Liaise with community mental health partners, primary care providers, and regional health networks. Represent Woodstock Hospital on external committees and regional mental health initiatives. Build and strengthen partnerships with academic institutions for training and research. Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with specialization in Psychiatry. Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) in Psychiatry. Licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Minimum 5–7 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or administrative role preferred. Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, team leadership, and program development. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
