Reporting to the Manager, Commissioning & Project Analytics, this individual will support the Commissioning, Scheduling, Project Analytics and QAQC Department. They will be involved with the majority of Symtech's construction projects. This individual will be in constant communication with all stakeholders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct thorough analysis of proposal documents to generate activities, logic, and allocate labor resources at a level of detail adequate for the schedule Create, update and maintain project schedules and micro schedules as required using Primavera P6 software Coordinate with Project Manager and/or Estimator to determine the required manpower, hours, and durations necessary to complete activities Prepare schedules for start-up, shutdown/tie-ins, commissioning and acceleration as required Review General Contractor's schedule submissions and verify all scope of work is identified properly and logically sequenced; provide written detailed schedule review comments Conduct thorough project site inspections with site personnel to determine construction progress Obtain site data (schedule updates, images of construction progress, site notes from team, etc.) Carry out comparisons of baseline schedules against latest schedule updates to determine variances of key milestones for reporting purposes Conduct variance and schedule impact analysis and identify delays, trends and change in logic Analyze and identify the critical path and near critical path activities, resource loading and tracking of these for reporting purposes to the internal teams and client Determine reasonable schedule logic and constraints of activities based on discussions with Project Managers and site personnel Provide input into and update progress and productivity reports for key projects Review contract requirements to ensure accuracy Analyze activities and predecessor, successor relationships based on schedule issued by the General Contractor Establish a baseline schedule and update monthly schedule and compare to baseline schedule Attend management meetings, project team and client meetings as required and provide necessary project monitoring updates Manage project schedules and ensure priority is applied as required Support the Project Manager in scope changes and schedule integration of the impacts associated Employ recovery plans/schedule acceleration when delays are anticipated or occur Prepare data for time and cost delay claims as required The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the position's role within the business unit. EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE: Registered with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologist or successfully completed a post graduate construction management program. 5 + years of experience in the Construction Industry. Minimum 3 years' experience in construction-related activities. Minimum 3 years' experience in scheduling-related activities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) and web-based applications, as well as Adobe and Bluebeam. Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 for project scheduling and management. Demonstrated strength in coordination, decision-making, and problem-solving. Exceptional communication skills (oral and written) and professional fluency in English. Strong leadership abilities with a proactive, results-driven mindset. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and effective at managing multiple priorities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project teams under minimal supervision. Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies, applying insights to identify potential project risks. Capable of clearly communicating schedule logic and deviations to all levels of the project team. Strong understanding of schedule metrics, progress reporting, and performance tracking. Proven administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interface with all levels of staff in a professional manner. TRAVEL: 20-80 % travel may be required for this position.
