Role Overview As Senior Director, Developer Platform , you will lead the commercial strategy for 1Password’s developer platform, from partner acquisition and monetization to product and engineering collaboration. You will define the platform’s pricing, packaging, go‑to‑market, and partner economics, and drive the KPIs that track developer activation, retention, expansion and revenue. Key Responsibilities Monetization Strategy and Business Ownership Define and own the monetization strategy for the developer platform, including pricing models, packaging, entitlements, and value metrics. Develop the business plan, market segmentation, and revenue forecasting with clear assumptions and sensitivities. Run a pricing and packaging operating cadence with experimentation, KPI tracking, launch readiness and post‑launch readouts. Platform GTM and Growth Motions Create the go‑to‑market strategy for platform capabilities such as APIs, SDKs, tooling, integrations, marketplace, and partner distribution. Partner with Product Marketing, Sales, and CS to build messaging, enablement, and conversion paths. Drive measurable outcomes across the funnel: developer activation → retention → expansion → revenue. Acquire relevant partners. Partner Monetization and Ecosystem Commercial Design Define partner distribution and integration monetization models. Own commercial frameworks for partner offers, including packaging rules, margin targets, and deal guardrails. Product + Engineering Collaboration Translate monetization needs into product requirements such as metering, billing hooks, entitlements, plan limits, and procurement readiness. Ensure the platform reduces friction for developers and accelerates time‑to‑value for customers. Analytics, Insights, and Decision Systems Build the insight engine: instrumentation strategy, dashboards, cohorting, pricing elasticity tests, and qualitative developer/customer feedback loops. Use data to drive decisions: launch, fix, sunset, or double down. Leadership and Team Building Build and lead a lean, high‑impact team across monetization, GTM, pricing ops, and analytics. Establish cross‑functional operating rhythms to execute at speed. Qualifications Senior leadership experience owning monetization/pricing/packaging and GTM for developer‑facing products. Proven track record designing and executing monetization for PLG + enterprise motions. Strong cross‑functional leadership and ability to align Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Legal. Deep empathy for developers and understanding of adoption realities. Analytical rigor and comfort building models, interpreting experiments, and making data‑driven tradeoffs. High standards for trust and appreciation for security, privacy, reliability. Executive presence and crisp communication; ability to represent the platform strategy internally and externally. Nice to Have Experience monetizing security/identity platforms or adjacent developer ecosystems. Experience building marketplace economics and partner monetization frameworks. Familiarity with usage‑based pricing, billing, entitlements, and platform unit economics. Relationships within the cybersecurity ecosystem. Compensation Base salary ranges from $272,000 to $368,000 USD for U.S. roles. Equivalent CAD ranges are $255,000 to $345,000 for Canadian roles.
